MONDAY- AUGUST 1st & TUESDAY- AUGUST 2nd 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm Electrical Safety in the Workplace for First Responders - T-T-T Room 2255 Instructor: C.J. Hamilton, Riverside-San Bernardino JATC The Monday or Tuesday evening course will show how Local Unions, JATCs, and LMCCs can provide an invaluable service for their community’s First Responders. The program provides safety awareness to the First Responders and valuable goodwill to your community. Each evening session will describe the two different courses available for first responder training and how to present the General Electrical Awareness training to your local First Responders. The Train-The-Trainer at NTI Monday and Tuesday nights will be a four-hour session covering Course-1 General Electrical Awareness. COURSE-1 GENERAL ELECTRICAL AWARENESS - Raising awareness to save lives. This course covers: • Arc Flash / Arc Blast • The Faraday Cage • Down Power Lines COURSE-2 SOLAR SAFETY AWARENESS This class introduces Firefighters to the world of Solar Power. Walking through several different types of Solar Power systems and how to deal with them and covers: • How Solar Works • What to look for in an Emergency •How to Shutdown / Turn Off the Solar System Both courses show what Electricity Might Do, Could Do, Should Do, and Will Not Do!! TUESDAY- AUGUST 2nd 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm Teaching Electric Motor Drives Room 2175 Instructor: Glen Mazur Electric Motor Drives (AC or variable frequency drive) installation and retrofitting are increasingly more popular as a versatile and energy-efficient solution in the industry. Session will: • Be a Hands-On Training Mini-Course that provides an overview of Electric Motor Drives. You will be connecting, testing, and troubleshooting drives. • Focus on practical, hands-on techniques for teaching fundamental operating principles, programming, and troubleshooting on common industrial equipment. • Offer activities addressing power monitoring, retrofitting, and test instruments. • Provide participants with numerous instructional tips for effectively teaching electric motor drives. 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm National Electrical Code Hazardous Location Seminar & Safety Through Exceeding Your Height Safety Initiatives Room 1265 Instructor: Robert C. Potter, Jr. The intent of the session is to provide proper project design, material selection, and installation to comply with the requirements of the NEC for classified hazardous location applications. Through understanding, better planning, and design, managing lighting maintenance risk may be minimized allowing employees to return home in the same condition as when they began their shift. Session will: • Cover Chapter 5 of the NEC . TUESDAY- AUGUST 2nd 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm 2017 NEC Room 1255 Instructor: Tim Crnko Changes Related to Protection This session will present and discuss significant 2017 NEC changes related to overcurrent protection, surge protection, and more. For those attending this presentation - pizza and soda will be provided commencing 30 minutes prior to session start time. Register in advance. Session will: • Review a few of the changes including: 90.7, 110.3(C), 110.14(D), 110.16, arc flash reduction in new 240.67 and revised 240.87, several requirements related to equipment short-circuit current ratings, and new surge protective devices requirements. • Allow attendees to be awarded one of four fuse sample kits for training (drawn on a lottery basis from pool of attendees). 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm Hart Calibration, Instrumentation Maintenance and the Fluke-744 and 754 Calibrators Room 2185 Instructors: Jim Shield and Bob Crepps The Fluke-744 and 754 calibrators are utilized in the current Instrumentation Curriculum. These calibrators are used for teaching students the finer elements of calibration and maintenance of temperature and pressure of HART transmitters. Session will: • Have attendees perform temperature and pressure transmitter calibrations. • Be hands-on and an abbreviated introduction of the calibrator and its’ functions utilized in the classroom. • Cover a portion of material covered in T-115. • Be viewed as a refresher course for participants that took T-115 and wish to reinforce knowledge of this calibration tool and calibration activities..
