OVERVIEW
This project will add capacity from four to 10 lanes on SH
121 between FM 2499 (Grapevine Mills Boulevard) and the
Sam Rayburn Tollway/Business 121 split. The project has two
overpasses; Grapevine Mills Boulevard/Sandy Lake Drive,
Freeport Parkway and bridge widening over Denton Creek.
This project will relieve traffic congestion and improve
traffic flow in this burgeoning retail and industrial area to
benefit commuters as well as commerce.

AESTHETIC EMBELLISHMENTS
Adding capacity to SH 121 in this area is an important piece
of the ongoing plan to benefit traffic flow on the heels
of the D/FW Connector project and the Grapevine Mills
Boulevard (FM 2499) added capacity project.
The three-year project will be under construction at the
same time as the FM 2499 project. The capacity the road has
now will continue throughout construction (two general
purpose lanes in each direction) and impact to traffic will be
minimized by the six-day work schedule, no lane closures
during peak travel times, and night work for major lane
closures. The posted speed limit of 70 miles per hour will
remain in effect.
