leader to the follower
• The competencies which the follower perceives
the leader to acquire
• Familiarity of the leader to the follower including
managerial effectiveness and historic
performance (proven track record)
Emotional Intelligence (EI)
• The number of EI competencies perceived to be exercised by the
leader
• The number of personality attributes possessed by the leader
• The age of the leader (maturity could influence leader EI
competencies)

• The number of different styles of leadership the leader is able to
exercise
• The nature and urgency of the task in hand to identify the most
appropriate leadership style
