HORIZONTAL MACHINING CENTERS HORIZONTAL MACHINING CENTERS The surge in demand for high technological products has provided a great opportunity for the development of horizontal machining centers in the country. Leveraging on the successful development of vertical machining centers, AMS has developed horizontal machining centers to cater to the high demand for such products. In the past decade AMS has designed and developed horizontal machining centers with different configurations and sizes to meet the requirement of machines with higher productivity. The new generation of horizontal machining centers includes the standard table moving machine series (HMC) as well as the moving column machine series (CMH & MCH). Both the varieties have created a large market for themselves based on the application. AMS horizontal machines are designed and manufactured to suit production application. It is a constant endeavor of our engineering team to enhance the reliability and performance of these machine models. spite of having high precision components to obtain superior machining performance, the Proton is one of the most economical horizontal machining centers available in the world. The column moving machines (CMH & MCH Series) are the new generation of horizontal machining centers introduced by AMS in the recent years. Continuous demand from the customers has inspired AMS to adapt the column moving configurations to meet the varying application requirements. The column moving horizontal machining centers are a popular configuration suiting diverse applications. These machines are larger in size and can take heavier payload as compared to the ones in the HMC series. The HMC series which is on an economical platform, has undergone continuous evolution and the new generation machines include the preferred products with the most favored specifications. This configuration has machines with the X and Z axes provided to the table and the spindle moves in the Y axis alone. The HMC 400 XL machine in its standard form comes with an index table and the automatic pallet changer is offered as an option. The other product in the series is the smallest CNC controlled HMC available in the country today called ‘Proton’. This has been developed to produce small sized components required in large volumes for the autocomponent industry and the general engineering industry. The model is available with both BT-30 and BT-40 version with an index table and automatic pallet changer. This machine has the ability to take components with a maximum size of 300 mm cube. In MCH 630 PROTON The column moving horizontal series has two configurations, CMH and MCH configuration. In the CMH configuration all three axes of movements are given to the tool and in the MCH configuration two axes, X and Y axes motion are given to the tool and the table moves in the Z axis only. In the CMH Series index table & pallet changer are optional as the machine is re-configurable for end operation of large components which need special machining. In the MCH series both the index table and automatic pallet changer are standard features. The Column Moving Series can help one achieve high precision due to the reduced movements of the components being machined. This configuration provides higher productivity and is easy to integrate into an automatic manufacturing line with automation interface on these machines. The CMH Series machines are also available without the index tables but with rigidly held fixture facility as an option to suit the work holding and machining configuration. The column moving horizontal machine series has three variants in the CMH configuration, CMH400, CMH500 with BT40 and CMH500 with BT50. In the MCH configuration there are three variants namely MCH500 (BT40), MCH630 (BT50) and MCH800 (BT50).
