We have a proven track record of demonstrating our expertise and commitment to the industry, offering the broadest portfolio of interconnect products. Our interconnect range include sealed circulars, plastic and metal shell bayonet coupling circulars, miniature metal shell circulars, PC board header connectors, sensor and direct device connectors. ITT is also a systems supplier, providing value-added module and harness assemblies. Cannon’s range of industrial connectors CA-T High Vibration Resistance CA Triple Thread is a series of Industrial aluminium connectors with threaded coupling for high shock and vibration applications. CA- T uses the well known CA- Bayonet contact layouts with more than 180 different contact configuraions and Currents up to 245 Amps. COM Intermateable to military Standards CA-COM is a series of Industrial Aluminium Connectors with Bayonet or Threaded coupling. They are Intermateable with MIL 5015 or VG95234 connectors. Contact layouts with 1 to 37 contacts are available. CACOM has reliable, robust machined contacts for signal and power. These connectors are suitable for currents up to 245 Amps and an operating voltage of 50 V. CMX Compact Servo Connectors CMx is a series of compact connectors for Servo motors. Power and signal connector is in one single housing. These connectors can be used for currents up to 40 Amps and they are easy and quick installable. Dimensions shown in mm Specifications and dimensions subject to change www.ittcannon.com 6 Cannon CA Industrial Introduction CA-Industrial Connectors: CA- Industrial (CA-I) is a series of highly reliable bayonet connectors for industrial applications. These connectors are derived from Cannons CA-Bayonet Series according to the VG95234 standard. The CA-I uses the same robust aluminium shell design as the proven CA-Bayonet series. To meet industrial requirements in terms of reduced installation effort the CA-I is equipped with a hard plastic insulator and stamped contacts that allow highly automated and quick processing. The CA-I also uses the well known contact layouts of the CA-Bayonet VG95234 connectors, however due to the different contact designs they are not intermateable. Features Bayonet coupling .The Bayonet Principle allows fast mating and unmating of the connector with a simple 120° turn of the coupling nut. At the end of the mating process an audible and feel able click indicates “Connector closed” to the user. This ensures that the connector is closed completely and fully reaches its specified vibration resistance and Environmental sealing. The coupling nut of the CA-I is equipped with roller Bolts made out of stainless steel that reduce mating forces and wear of the bayonet ramps. Bayonet connectors are very robust against dirt and can be cleaned easily. Sealing up to IP69K For the CA-I a selection of different endbells is available. Depending on the used endbell different environmental sealing grades can be realized. With the universal endbell a sealing up to IP69k according to DIN 40050 is ensured. This means that CA-I connectors can be used in applications where jet water cleaners are used. 500 h Salt Spray resistance and RoHs compliance CA-I connectors are designed for reliable use under demanding environmental conditions. In order to make the aluminium shell resistant against aggressive media it can be plated with several platings. This can be standard Nickel or Cannons high performance plating Blue Generation that provides a salt spray resistance of 500 hours. All platings for the CA-I are environmental friendly and comply to the european RoHS laws. Dimensions shown in mm Specifications and dimensions subject to change www.ittcannon.com 7 Cannon CA Industrial Stamped Contacts The CA-I connectors use stamped APK25 – power and T2P – signal contacts. Stamped contacts reduce assembly time of the connector significantly. This is realized by a highly automated crimp process with crimp machines. The insertion of the contacts in the connector is done by a simple and fast snap in without the need of any tool. The CA-I contacts are available in a reeled versions for automated processing with a crimp machine or loose packed for hand crimping and also for smaller quantities. The stripping of cable is carried out with relevant stripping unit. Thereby the wire strands must not be damaged. Stripping cable for APK25 pin contact The recommended stripping length of the stamped pin and socket contact is 5, 3+/-0,3mm. The stripping of cable is carried out with relevant stripping unit. Thereby the wire strands must not be damaged. Crimping Contact with hand tools: 1.) Strip wires to length (see Stripping Cables) 2.) Open hand tool and insert the contact in the selected crimp profile 3.) Position the stripped cable in the contact 4.) Press hand tool to end position 5.) Open hand tool and extract the contact, check the contact visually -there shall be no loose strands out of the crimp section -the contact must be crimped straight to the cable -deformed contacts must not be used. For crimping instructions consult factory. Dimensions shown in mm Specifications and dimensions subject to change www.ittcannon.com 49 Cannon CA Industrial Stripping, shielded cable system The stripping length for shielded cable has to be determined that the shielded cable is inside of the grounding ring after assembly. The stripping of cable is carried out with relevant stripping unit. Thereby the shielding braid must not be damaged. The recommended stripping length for shielded braid is 40mm. Crimping contacts to shielded cable system Turn over braid and remove the protective foil if available. Fix the shielding braid with tape for easier assemblystripping single cables and crimp the contacts as described in the contact assembly instruction. Assembly of connector Insert of pin and socket contacts: The stamped contacts are pushed by hand into the cavity from the rear side of the connector An insertion tool is not required. A “click” indicates that the contact is in the final position. The contact can not be pulled back. Forwards the contact position is defined by a shoulder inside the insulator.
