In some cases, the reason is the appearance of new applications with mounting locations exposed to severe temperature regimes. In other cases, the increasing power demand of some equipments, maintaining or even reducing dimensions, produces higher operating temperatures (for example in generators). Not only the maximal temperature has to be considered. Temperature variation is also a key factor of component design.
