AUSTRALIA DAY
BY THE LAKE
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
WINNERS
Well done to everyone who embraced the spirit
of the festive season by entering the 2015 Manor
Lakes Christmas Lights competition and special
congratulations to the winners.
There was an outstanding array of light displays throughout the estate for the
judges to assess, making their decision a difficult assignment.
After much deliberation, the judges awarded the $750 first prize for the Best
Individual Display to Chris and Cathy Rose of Ellenborough Crescent. First-time
entrants Chris and Cathy showcased their home with a fantastically stylish blue
and white display which greatly impressed the judges.
Due to the standard of displays, two second place awards of $500 each were
presented to Germalyn Horne of Jardine Street and Melissa Cos of Manor
Lakes Boulevard, whilst third prize of $250 was awarded to Marwin Dela Torre
of Ashburton Avenue, another first-time entrant.
A collection of seven neighbours from Ellenborough Crescent combined to win
the Best Group Display category, which allows them to nominate a beneficiary
for a $1,000 donation from the Dennis Family Corporation. The winning group
from Ellenborough Crescent decided that the money be used locally towards
improvements at Manor Lakes College.
The results of the 2015 competition showed that there is great incentive for
new people to enter the competition and we hope to see even more families
participating next Christmas. Of course, it’s not all about winning. The fabulous
effort that goes into the light displays makes the Manor Lakes estate shine brightly
at a magical time of the year and adds to sense of community.
There will be a real Carnival feel to this year’s
Australia Day celebration at Manor Lakes.
SURVEY
RESPONSE
Thank you to everyone
who completed the recent
Manor Lakes residents’
survey. Over 400 responses
were received which was
a fantastic outcome.
Work has also commenced on the
creation of the adventure style park
in the centre of Lollipop Hill, which
is destined to become one of the
estate’s key recreational attractions.
Separate playground facilities for younger
and older children will be available within
the park. Equipment being provided
includes a flying fox and basketball
half court and the park will also include
a modern, all weather BBQ area.
Construction of the Lollipop Hill Park
is progressing well and expected to be
completed by the middle of this year.
For 2016, the celebrations will be held beside Manor Lake to capitalise on the recent
landscaping which has created a wonderful new park precinct on the lake perimeter
along Manor Lakes Boulevard.
The Australia Day event will take place on Tuesday, 26th January commencing
at 11.00am and concluding at 3.00pm. Entertainment includes, Bam Bam Circus,
a carousel, giant slide, African Drummers, bubble zone, petting zoo, balloon artists
and face painters. As always, the rides and entertainment are free and suitable for all ages.
A new highlight of the day will be food trucks, ice-cream vans and a community
bbq selling lunch time snacks at reasonable prices.
Performances by Bam Bam Circus are
scheduled for 11.00am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm,
while the sounds of African Drumming will
be heard in the Performance Tent at 12.00pm
and 1.00pm.
Don’t miss the opportunity to celebrate
Australia’s day of national pride with your
family, neighbours and friends within the Manor
Lakes community. With the Carnival flavour
to the event this year, we invite you to roll up,
roll up and enjoy all the fun of the fair.
The information provided through the survey
feedback will assist the Dennis Family
Corporation and the Manor Lakes marketing
team with shaping future strategy.
Not surprisingly, amongst the findings
confirmed by the responses was an
overwhelming endorsement by local residents
for the train station as a major new benefit
for the estate community.
Don’t forget that residents who completed the
survey are eligible to receive two free Village
cinemas movie tickets per household. If you
haven’t already collected your movie tickets
from the Manor Lakes Land Sales Office,
you can do so up until 31st January.
