DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TEACHER RECRUITMENT SYSTEM USER GUIDE FOR APPLICANTS ACRONYM NT DoE TRS CDU WWC * EXPLANATION Northern Territory Department of Education Teacher Recruitment System Charles Darwin University Working With Children Clearance Notice Mandatory Field When you first click on to the Teacher Recruitment System, you will find the following screen: You will need to click on Register to create a new account; fill in the required fields and click the Register button. You will receive an email with instructions on how to complete your registration. From this point on the system will remember who you are and you will automatically reach the home page of the TRS. This page will now reflect Current Vacancies available and you can click on specific vacancies for further information or search using the available search parameters. The Menu button on the top right of your screen provides you with access to the following: Home Change Account Details Online Application To continue, click on Online Application. Your online application requires that you complete the following steps. You will be prompted to save the information in your application at the end of each step before you progress to the next step. www.education.nt.gov.au -2STEPS 1. Personal Information INFORMATION REQUIRED Basic Personal Information Residential Address 2. Identification Postal Address Citizenship and Residency Status Teacher Registration – depending on your response to your Teacher Registration status you may be required to provide some further information. While teacher registration is not necessary at this stage to progress your application it is essential prior to any offer of employment. Working With Children Clearance Notice (Ochre Card) depending on your response you may be required to provide some further information. While an Ochre Card is not necessary at this stage to progress your application it is essential prior to any offer of employment. Previous Employment with the Northern Territory Department of Education Employed in another State or Territory 3. Employment Preference Teaching Couple – this information can be relevant if you have a preference for remote teaching positions where housing is provided or where the Department has identified two vacancies. General – if you tick the relief teaching button another section will be available for you to complete Relief Teaching Preference – in completing this section, you can make your information available for Principals to view your availability. Principals also have the facility to book relief teachers within the TRS. Urban School Preference – you can choose from a list of urban schools if you have a preference Remote School Preference – this tab will appear if you ticked the Remote Teaching Location Preference box in the general section and this also allows you to indicate your preferences. This screen also provides some remote related questions which are essential information for teaching placements in remote communities. -34. Qualifications Qualifications – once you have completed your qualification information click on the Add New Qualification button for the information to be reflected in the Added Qualifications section. Additional Uploaded Files – choose one of the options to save your document prior to uploading- TRS will not allow Word docs to be uploaded. If you click on the uploaded document you have further access as follows: Additional information – this is an opportunity for you to provide any further information that may support your application or may be required in the future eg birth certificate/passport; visa; statements of service; transcripts. 6. Employment History Add all relevant employment history and your list of employment history will be displayed at the right hand of the screen. Use the Add New Employer button at the bottom to add individual employers. 7. Referees As referee statements are a crucial part of the assessment for eligibility for teachers, it is essential that you provide relevant referee contacts. Acceptable referees should comprise Principal, Assistant Principal or equivalent and your most recent employer will be contacted. Once your application has been submitted, the TRS automatically generates an email to your referee/s requesting a referee report. If no response is received within two weeks, the TRS will send a reminder email to your referee/s. If no response is received within the following week a final email reminder to you will be generated by the TRS. If no referee statements are received, your application will not be progressed to the next stage. You may provide names of additional referees. -48. Declaration Questions and Statements Declaration Questions Declaration Statements Equal Employment Opportunity – this is an optional area but does assist the Department of Education to understand the diversity of its workforce. Submit Application – when you get to this stage and have clicked on the Submit button, the TRS will indicate if there are any mandatory areas that you have not completed and you will need to go back to the particular step to complete before submission. These will be well defined as below: Once you have completed your application, click on the submit application tab and the following screen will appear: Click on the “Submit Application” button to complete the process. The system will automatically generate an email advising of receipt of application and that your referees will now be contacted (see Step 7 for further information regarding referees). At any stage you are able to access your application to amend/add any further information.
