Preparation: 1. Clean all surfaces coming in contact with the UGlu ® Rivet Strips ™ with rubbing alcohol to ensure all surfaces are clean and free of any dirt, dust, debris, oils and residue of any kind. Extra effort should be taken to clean bathroom and kitchen surfaces as many household products leave behind chemical residue which can lead to failure of the bond over time. 2. Make sure all surfaces are thoroughly dry; allow extra dry time for porous surfaces such as unsealed wood, cement and brick. 3. Newly painted surfaces should be given 60 days to thoroughly cure and dry prior to any Rivet Strips application. IMPORTANT: If this is your first time using Rivet Strips, or your first time using Rivet Strips on a new surface type, please take time to read all instructions completely; this will help to ensure the application surface is stable and solid prior to starting your project. Application: 1. 2. 3. 4. Ensure temperature is above 50 degrees F during your initial application. Remove one side of the liner by peeling away one side of the liner strip. Place Rivet Strips, exposed adhesive side down, on the first bonding surface. Press firmly across the entire surface of the remaining liner to ensure a strong bond is made between the Rivet Strips and the initial surface. 5. Remove remaining liner. Press the surfaces together using firm even pressure for 10 seconds at each adhesive location. 6. Rivet Strips must be allowed to set-up for 72 hours prior to using, or placing weight on your installed item; failure may occur if this is not followed. CAUTION—Take special care to follow these instructions: Refrain from touching the adhesive directly as this will lessen the bonding strength and may cause failure. Keep the adhesive clean: Oils, grease or residue on the adhesive surface may cause failure. Bond should only be made between flat surfaces: Surfaces can be rough, think of sandpaper or a brick, but all surface areas coming in contact with the adhesive must be flat. Bonding items together having less than 3/4in shared surface area is not recommended and may lead to bonding failure. Keep the Rivet Strips adhesive flat: Avoid folds, creases or balling-up of Rivet Strips. Should this occur, remove the adhesive and start with a new strip. Rivet Strips should: NOT BE USED to hang, repair or mount any family heirlooms, treasured articles or one-of-a-kind items as damage may occur if application is not exact NOT BE USED to support items weighing more than 12 pounds in total NOT BE USED on any drywall or plaster surface NOT BE USED on any acrylic surface when high heat conditions may occur (over 100 degrees F) Product Characteristics Rivet Strips should not be applied to newly painted surfaces. The painted surface should be allowed to fully cure/dry for 60 days prior to Rivet Strips application otherwise failure may occur with the bond. When securing heavier objects, strips should be applied in all four corners of your item to provide the best and most secure bond. Rivet Strips does not have an expiration date. As long as the protective liners are in tact and it is kept in a clean and dry location it can be stored indefinitely. Rivet Strips are tacky to the touch however they will NOT permanently bond skin. Rivet Strips are waterproof and UV resistant (sunlight) Can withstand temperatures between 0—200 degrees F No fumes or toxic smell Rivet Strips create a nearly permanent bond between two surfaces; if removal is attempted, damage is highly likely to occur.
