Uncomfortable and improperly fitting eyewear is less
likely to be worn, thereby increasing the risk of exposure
to eye-related injuries.
The 3M™ Eyewear Fit System is a simple 6-step method,
designed to help select the best fitting eyewear on a
worker-by-worker basis. The innovative 3M™ Eyewear
Fit System is a proprietary toolkit and methodology
that enables a measured evaluation of fit, that can be
conducted at your work site.

The tools you need to ensure optimum fit
An assessment based merely on the size and adjustable
features of a given piece of eyewear is not always
adequate to determine the best fit. The 3M™ Eyewear Fit
System, utilizing the Coverage and Gap Gauge tools, will
help assess four elements of protective eyewear fit.

Assessment to ensure the wearer can see in all directions of
eye rotation without major obstruction to the field of view that
would interfere with visibility to perform work tasks.

Gauge Tools

Assessment to ensure the eyewear stays in place on the
wearer’s head and does not fall off with head movement.
Coverage
The Coverage Gauge assesses how well the eyewear covers
the soft tissue area around the eyes.
Gaps
The Gap Gauges help to identify excessive gaps between the
eyewear and the face. Large gaps can provide a clear path for
flying debris.

Lens colour shades: (#1- light - 15%), (#2- medium - 50%), (#3- dark sunglass - 80%), reduces light
transmittance. No filter protection. Common tint colours are Grey or Brown. Grey tint minimizes colour
distortion vs Brown. For bright light or glare induced environments, Cruxite or Tonelite #1
is recommended.
Basic Scratch Resistant Coating (SRC)
Clear, basic scratch resistance coating, extends the life of the lens.
Premium Hardcoat Supercote
Provides greater lens protection and durability with more scratch resistance than regular scratch
resistant coatings.
Anti-Reflective Coating
Clear, reduces glare, enhanced optics, easy clean coating, avoid chemicals. Not available on CR-39
Plastic lenses.
Anti-Fog Coating
Cuts fogging in the most severe conditions. Outstanding performance, integral bond with lens surface
for tough and long lasting anti-fog performance. Not available in conjunction with other treatments.
Scotchgard™ Coating
Easy Clean stain resistant top coating that helps keep the lenses clean longer and enhances durability,
giving the lens additional protection from dust, dirt, and grime, water spots, paint splatter and finger
prints. Available as Scotchgard™ Coating Easy Clean, Scotchgard™ Coating Anti-Reflective and
Scotchgard™ Coating Anti-Fog.
Polarized
Reduces brightness and glare from the sun. Dark lens colour, UV included. Mainly for outdoor use and
not recommended for indoor use.
Photochromic
Reduces brightness and glare when working both indoors and outdoors. Darkens with UV exposure,
fades without. Glass windows reduce UV. Do not use for frequent indoor to/from outdoor movement.
