The spa sheet shall be of the energy conservation type. The sheet materials shall withstand the
spa’s normal operating environment. All materials will be ultraviolet stabilized to ensure long life.
The sheet shall be reversible – allowing for the sheet to be rotated, using both sides, every other
year, allowing for extended sheet life. Warning labels shall be affixed to both sides of the sheet
and shall instruct the use in their proper use and warn patrons of hazards associated with
covered bodies of water.
Sheet Material
Material shall be woven, twelve by twelve count per inch, high-density polyethylene, ultraviolet
stabilized film fabric, laminated to both sides of a 1/8” thick, closed cell, medium density, white,
polyethylene foam. The woven polyethylene film fabric shall be coated on the exposed sides with
an ultraviolet stabilized, chemically resistant polyethylene coating. The combination of film, foam
and woven components shall be non-toxic, non-absorbent, non-permeable and buoyant. Color
shall be blue on both surfaces.
Sewing
All sewing shall be double locking chain stitch, using ultraviolet stabilized, chemically resistant,
100% polyester thread. Sheet body seams shall be double overlap parallel double chain lock
stitched. No butt, welded, glued or heat-sealed seams will be employed. All sewing shall be
accomplished with computer-controlled machines, synchronizing speed with stitch length to
assure uniformity and strength.
Warning Labels
Warning labels consistent with the recommendations of the Federal Consumer Protection Agency
shall be permanently affixed to each side of the sheet.
