For the past 20 years, the city of San Antonio has invested energy and intellectual capital into promoting the cyber security capabilities present across the city. More recently, with the newly completed Texas Cryptologic Center facility, and the advent of 24th Air Force in San Antonio, support to our nation’s cyber security has become more important. However, San Antonio recognizes that cyber security is not just a national issue, but it is a local issue, and all digital citizens play a role. We are dedicated to supporting all the ways in which San Antonio can benefit from cyber safety, security, readiness, and preparedness. Since 2005, cyber security jobs in San Antonio have lead to a workforce exceeding 34,000 individuals in over 1,000 registered IT and Cyber companies, making the area with the second-highest concentration of network security professionals outside of Washington, D.C. — about 7,500 have top-secret clearances to work in the industry. We have seen economic increases of over $10B per year added to our local economy and that number is continuing to grow. The creation of a stable local workforce is a key focus for many in the industry. Cyberrelated studies are available at several colleges and universities including the University of Texas at San Antonio (recently ranked #1 in the U.S.), San Antonio College, Texas A&M, St. Philip’s College, and Our Lady of the Lake University as NSA/DHS designated centers of academic excellence in information assurance education. We are home to one of the seven CyberPatriot Centers of Excellence, a STEM program to develop our middle and high schoolers and ensure that they have the tools for a successful future. San Antonio has sent over ten teams to the CyberPatriot National Cyber Defense Competition Finals, a feat that only 1% of all teams accomplish. Expert after expert cites Texas’ attractive business climate – lower labor costs, a right-towork state, and an economy that weathered even the last recession relatively intact – while emphasizing the quality of life issues for employees, including greater buying power because of the low cost of living. There’s also hundreds of days of sunshine a year, the freedom from most natural disasters, and an energy grid that keeps prices extraordinarily competitive. San Antonio has become Cyber City, USA and CyberTexas continues to bring together these thought leaders and innovators in one location to highlight what’s going on and grow the industry for our future. https://www.fbcinc.com/e/CyberTexas/ (800) 878-2940 2016 Supporting Organizations Over the past six years, San Antonio’s Cybersecurity Caucus has included a diverse mix of defense, intelligence, government, and defense industrial organizations involved in national defense. Innovators with data protection solutions that enable both small and large enterprises to secure and protect networks with limited interference are often sought after. San Antonio is a hub of cyber innovation that equips both public and private industry with world-class technologies built for next generation cyber protection and awareness. This track will showcase innovative cyber technologies. Presented by: Vectra Networks Cyber Education & Workforce Development - Developing a strong, viable, and resilient cyber workforce is vital to the sustainability of public and private entities. With the growing number of cyber attacks springing up throughout the U.S. and abroad, major players are taking a serious interest in grooming the next generation of cyber warriors. This track will take an honest look at cyber education and workforce growth on the local, regional, and national level. Presented by: UTSA Insider Threat - While IT security professionals focus on securing servers and databases, they often ignore the potential threat that looms within their organization. After all, signs aren’t always obvious when sensitive data is being threatened by an insider. In fact, of all forms of cyberattack, insider attacks are less likely to be detected and are capable of causing the most damage. This track will focus on strategy for preventing and addressing insider threats. Presented by: SolarWinds Protecting Critical Infrastructure: Oil & Gas, Utilities, & Financial Institutions - Securing critical infrastructure against growing and evolving cyber threats requires a multi-faceted approach. With the security of critical assets (i.e. power-grids, water systems, banks, etc.) on the line, our nation is vulnerable to national and global threats that will impact our economic sustainability. This track will look at new and existing ways to protect and preserve our critical assets against malicious cybercriminals for now and in the future. Acquisition & Business Development - Business opportunity forecast for San Antonio, the Region, and the Nation. This track will present views from Acquisition and Business professionals located within San Antonio market, alongside professionals from other primary markets such as Maryland, Washington D.C., California and Colorado. Cyber Risk - Cybersecurity risks, both internal and external, continue to occur and change at a rapid pace. New risks and threats emerge daily. Analyzing the potential for loss and establishing methodologies for mitigating risk is one of the fastest evolving areas within the cybersecurity domain. New rules and regulations add to the burden of managing compliance and cyber threats simultaneously. Speakers and sessions will focus on what you need to know to minimize risk in your business or enterprise, best practices, and emerging methods for analyzing and addressing risks and threats. Presented by: IPSecure Threat Intelligence - Research indicates that the majority of successful cyber attacks are specifically targeted to victim organizations who have been well researched by their attackers. Threat data is plentiful, yet to win cyber security battles, the challenge is turning threat data into relevant, actionable threat intelligence. By understanding potential threats relevant to a targeted organization and integrating threat intelligence into IT operations, security teams can focus their resources on finding the most dangerous threats and tune their security systems to mitigate the impact. This panel will explore what threat data is most valuable, how to turn that data into threat intelligence, and how to make threat intelligence integrated and actionable. https://www.fbcinc.com/e/CyberTexas/ (800) 878-2940 2016 Speakers Each day will feature nationally recognized experts. 2016 speakers will include: Keynote and Plenary Speakers Congressman Will Hurd, 23rd District of Texas William E.
