General Manager/CEO Triangle Communications and Hill County Electric Cooperative Havre, MT The Board of Trustees of Triangle Communications (Triangle) and Hill County Electric Cooperative (HCE) jointly invite applications for the position of General Manager/Chief Executive Officer (GM/CEO) of the two entities. The current GM/CEO will be retiring December, 2015. The Boards have contracted with NRECA’s Executive Search to facilitate the search process. Triangle (www.itstriangle.com) is a growing, member‐owned telephone cooperative providing telecommunication services including Broadband Internet, local, long distance and mobile telephone service to more than 17,000 subscribers in Central Montana, from Wyoming to the Canadian border. Its customers are benefitting from its aggressive fiber to the home projects. Triangle has revenue of $29 million and a plant investment of $178 million. It is a member of NTCA. HCE (www.hcelectric.com) is a financially sound, member‐owned, electric distribution cooperative providing service over 3,111 miles of line in five north central Montana counties. The Cooperative serves 3,800 meters, including two tribal nations, with 31 percent of its kWh sales to residences/seasonal, 21 percent to commercial/irrigation, and 48 percent to three industrial loads. It has revenue of $13 million and a plant investment of $44 million. HCE receives its wholesale power from Central Montana Electric Power. It is a member of the Montana Electric Cooperatives, NRECA, CFC, and CoBank. It is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative and an RUS borrower. Triangle and HCE employ over 160 individuals with the majority working from Havre, where the Cooperatives share resources, including office and operational facilities. The successful candidate will be a visionary, a person of integrity and have proven leadership skills. The individual must be a strategic, “out of the box” thinker, possess strong business acumen, and have more than five years’ supervisory experience at the senior management level of a telephone or electric utility. Rural telephone or electric cooperative experience is preferred. A demonstrated understanding and respect of the cooperative principles and business model is essential. The individual will have established strong interpersonal, team‐
building, and negotiation skills. Knowledge in the areas of legislation, regulation, financial management, telephone or electric distribution operations, strategic planning, tribal relations, safety, and member/public relations is required. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills. An appropriate level of higher education with an adequate amount of telephone or electric utility experience may be substituted in lieu of a four‐year degree. Havre is the eighth largest town in Montana with a population of 9,300. The cost of living is very affordable and below the national average. Primary industries include agriculture, health care, education, rail, gaming, and retail trade. Havre offers a strong secondary and post‐secondary educational system, including Montana State University‐Northern. The Milk River (tributary of the Missouri River) runs through Havre, and the Bear's Paw Mountains can be seen to the south. Etched by numerous rivers, North Central Montana is pocketed by small mountain ranges and gentle rolling hills and valleys. There are many opportunities for hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking, golfing, and winter recreation. Great Falls is easily accessed within 110 miles via scenic US 87 highway.
