SCHOLARSHIPS
Applications for 2017 MSRF scholarships are now open
The Macpherson Smith Rural Foundation (MSRF) is a charitable institution dedicated to the needs of
rural and regional Victorian communities.
One of MSRF's key activities is our scholarship program. We offer scholarships to year 12 students
from rural/regional Victoria to enable them to participate in tertiary study after they complete their VCE
studies. The scholarships provide financial support of $45,000 over three years, and also participation
in our mentoring and leadership development programs. Demonstrated leadership capacity is a critical
selection criterion for all MSRF programs.
Each scholarship application requires the endorsement of the applicant's school principal. A maximum
of 2 applications may be endorsed by any single school/principal in any given year. Applications for
2017 scholarships open on 1st May 2016 and close at midnight on 18th July 2016.
Full details of the selection criteria and application process are available at:
http://www.msrf.org.au/about-msrf-scholarships/
You may be aware of VCE students at your school who meet our selection criteria. I invite you to
discuss this program with your staff with a view to endorsing 1 or 2 scholarship applications from your
school.
Please note: The process to select 1 or 2 applicants for school principal endorsement is entirely at
the discretion of each school. For example, your school may "hand select" 1 or 2 students for
endorsement based on your existing knowledge of their merit, or you may invite draft applications
from multiple year 12 students from which you will agree to endorse the best two.
Thank you in advance for your help. We look forward to receiving applications from your school.
regards,
Macpherson Smith Rural Foundation Limited
