Electrical and E
T
Kurt van der Herten from DG Environment at the European
Commission shares his perspective on the progress of the
2008 revision, to be finalised shortly after this conference and
addresses the future targets for Member States.
The revision of the WEEE Directive will establish a new context
for the management of electrical waste and you can hear from
leading industry experts about the impact the revision is likely
to have on your business. Phil Conran from Biffa Waste
Services will assess how the revision will affect the waste
management industry and Mark Dempsey from Hewlett
Packard will discuss the practical solutions for implementation
of Individual Producer Responsibility. Jonathan Perry from
Dell Corporation Ltd will examine the effect of the Directive
on European competitiveness in the global market.
Sustainable new product development is essential to reduce
EEE waste which will in turn reduce compliance and
manufacturing costs. Hear from Nils de Caluwe from Philips
Consumer Electronics who will examine approaches to ecodesign and address the cost and environmental benefits of
appealing to the ethical consumer.
Interpretation of WEEE regulations has led to differing national
implementation. Hear from Member States on their
implementation of the WEEE Directive and the latest views on
the 2008 revision.
You will be able to assess different approaches to making
producers responsible for the collecting and recycling of
e-waste in different Member States. Ronald Pollet from
Agoria ICT and Dr Philip Morton from REPIC will compare
the benefits and problems of single mandatory compliance
schemes and markets made up of multiple B2B and B2C
compliance schemes.
The Electrical and Electronic Waste conference offers you
a unique opportunity to network and exchange ideas with
leading stakeholders and policy makers and stay up to
date with the latest developments in WEEE regulation.
