1 SECTION 10 1200 ACRYLIC OR GLASS ENCLOSED BULLETIN AND DIRECTORY DISPLAY CASES PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 SECTION INCLUDES A. This section includes glass enclosed aluminum framed bulletin board and directory display cases of the following type: 1. Charcoal Cork Bulletin Board Displays 2. Black Letter Board Displays B. Section 08 8000 - Glazing: Glass and Glazing Accessories 1.03 REFERENCE STANDARDS A. American National Standards Institute (ANSI): 1. ANSI Z97.1, Safety Performance Specifications and Methods of Test for Safety Glazing Material Used in Buildings. B. ASTM B221, Standard Specification for Aluminum and Aluminum-Alloy Extruded Bars, Rods, Wire, Profiles, and Tubes. 1.04 SUBMITTALS A. See Section 01 3000 – Administration Requirements, for submittal procedures. B. Shop drawings: Provide shop drawings for each type of bulletin or directory board display required. C. Product Data: Provide manufacturer’s technical data for materials specified. Include installation instructions. D. Samples: Manufacturer’s color charts. 1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing of bulletin and directory board displays with a minimum of three years of documented experience. Single source manufacturer. 1. The manufacturer must have a quality management system registration to the ISO 9001: 2008 standard. 1.06 WARRANTY A. Provide manufacturer’s standard warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. B. Warranty Period: One year from date of delivery by manufacturer. 1.07 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Deliver materials to job site in the manufacturer’s original protective cartons or crates. Do not deliver units until the project is ready for their installation. 1. Inspect components for damage upon delivery. Unless minor defects in metal components can be made to meet the Architect’s specifications and satisfaction, damaged parts should be removed and replaced. B. Protect units from damage. Field measurements: Check prior to preparation of shop drawings and fabrication to ensure proper fit. Coordinate fabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid delay of the work and possible damage to the finished product. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS A. Wall mounted, hinged door bulletin and directory board displays: 1. Natural charcoal cork with self-healing surface. 2. Black letter board. a. Complete with 3/4 inch (19 mm) white letters and numerals in a Helvetica font. B. Standard Sizes: 1. Single Locking Door: 24 inches wide x 36 inches high (610 x 914 mm). [Special sizes up to 36 inches wide x 48 inches high (914 x 1219 mm) on request.] 2. Double Locking Doors: 47 inches wide x 36 inches high (1194 x 914 mm). [Special sizes up to 48 inches wide x 48 inches high (1219 x 1219 mm) on request.] C. Door Glazing: Standard with 1/8 inch (3 mm) clear, shatter resistant acrylic. [3/16 inch (5 mm) clear tempered glass available on request.] D. Housing: Perimeter trim is 2-1/4 inches x 2-1/4 inches (57.2 x 57.2 mm) extruded aluminum. E. Inside display depth is 3/4 inch (19 mm). F. Finish: 1. Satin anodize. 2. Bronze anodized. 3. Custom powder coat. Keyed alike on double door models. 2.03 FABRICATION A. Shop assembly: Provide factory assembled display cases to requirements indicated on shop drawings. B. Units shall be of dimensions shown in details and in accordance with manufacturer’s shop drawings, as approved by architect. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 EXAMINATION A. B. Verify that wall surfaces are prepared and ready to receive display cases. 3.02 INSTALLATION A. Deliver completely assembled in one piece, wherever possible. B. Follow manufacturer’s instructions for installation. C. Install level and plumb, in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. 3.03 ADJUST AND CLEAN A. Verify that all accessories are installed as required for each unit. B. At completion of work, clean acrylic or glass surfaces, back panels and trim, in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations, leaving all materials ready for use. 3.04 PROTECTION A.
