PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
I am capable of making prompt evaluation and management of ophthalmological
emergencies both Surgical and Medical as well as elective surgeries.
I am fairly skilled in emergency procedures like repair of corneal and sclera tear,
canalicular intubation and almost all kinds of surgical procedures. I can do cataract
surgery by extracapsular and also by Phacoemulsification. I can do glaucoma surgery
in children and adults, Squint surgery and cosmetic surgery. I can do diagnostic
procedures like A-scan biometry, B-scan, FFA, visual field analysis by Humphrey field
analyzer. I can do Yag LASER capsulotomy and panretinal photocoagulation. I’ve
been actively involved in all kinds of posterior segment surgeries with my seniors.
SURGICAL
TRAINING
I did my postgraduate surgical training in Allied hospital Faisalabad, Pakistan which is
a tertiary care teaching hospital of Pakistan and is affiliated with Punjab medical
college faisalabad.This hospital is recognised by British and Irish medical council
for postgraduate training.
During my training I was assisting usually in our major operating room.
I was responsible for the complete pre-operative workup and post-operative followup of almost all patients in the unit.I did almost all kind of emergency surgeries as
well as elective surgeries.
I used to attend postgraduate clinical session in OPD seeing all sorts of surgical
cases, discussing their diagnosis and management plan with my professor.
I was organizing journal clubs and topic presentation, being responsible for these
activities in my Unit.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been involved in teaching of undergraduates and post graduate trainee
candidates since FCPS-1 in august 2000, at Punjab Medical College & Allied Hospital,
Faisalabad.
At present teaching at college of applied medical sciences
program(optometry doctor) as opthalmologist since 8-3-2010.

MBBS students in Punjab Medical College affiliated with the Allied hospital

visited ophthalmology ward, Emergency and operation theatre.
I helped students in ophthalmology related research activities.
I also arranged many teaching activities for the house officers who came on
rotation basis to ophthalmology unit.

This hospital is one of the tertiary care hospitals of Pakistan and affiliated with
Punjab medical college faisalabad.This hospital is recognised by British and Irish
medical council for postgraduate training. Patients come from different parts of the
city and also referred from the nearby cities.
In this unique experience I was working in 1:5 rotas on ophthalmology floor. My
duties range from pre and post operative management, OPD and treatment of minor
ailments to managing emergency situations including all types of trauma. I was
running minor theatre independently.

During this rotation, I learnt to take medical history of the patients, observed the
management of different medical illnesses like congestive cardiac failure, chronic
liver disease, pneumonia, etc. I also took part in the management of the patients
under supervision of my seniors. I also got a chance to have a rotation for three
weeks in CCU during my internship. I also had an experience to manage different
medical emergencies like myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, diabetic
ketoacidosis, etc during my internship. , here I learnt to take arterial and venous
blood samples, CVP line insertions, I/V and arterial canulations etc. I also took part

I started to learn basic surgical skill here, I started to acclimatise to the surgical
atmosphere and
to the surgical emergencies. Here, I learnt the art of surgical history taking,
examination in the OPD, and started correlating basic surgical knowledge with the
clinical presentations.
It was here that I started developing my surgical skills by supervised practice of
basic surgical skills during short procedures like Incision ad Drainage of minor
abscesses, excision of small lumps, appendectomies as well as assisting in some of
the major procedures.

I love reading Holy Quran, religious books and Islamic history. I have the habit of
reading at least a few minutes every day or more if time permits.
