In December 1967, Dr. Christiaan Barnard personally chose for the first heart transplant surgery the
­CHROMOPHARE® lighting system. In the years thereafter, BERCHTOLD became an OR equipping specialist
with its visionary "OR of the Future" and worldwide
expansion.
CHROMOPHARE® F-Generation combines innovative
and revolutionary proven reflector technology with
the newest LED technology for reflection and glare
free light. Colour-cast shadows in the surgical field are
reduced to a minimum.
Optimum lighting shortens the procedure time, reduces costs for each procedure and ensures a better
OR experience and safer treatment of patients.
The interaction between technology and the OR
team must be reliable, smooth and work without any
time delays. Therefore, BERCHTOLD designed the
control of its OR lights to be as simple as possible and
created interfaces for other system connections

Unique light concept
The new F Generation combines proven reflector
technology with the newest LED technology. In contrast to other light technologies the light is mixed in
the reflector within the light head and generates a
light with outstanding spectral properties.

shadow-freedom in comparison to conventional LED OR lights.

Convenient in use
Color Select – Free colour temperature selection
Depending on the surgical situation, the surgical field
can have daylight-quality illumination at the standard
4,500 K or a lower or higher colour temperature with a
colour-rendering index of 96. Different tissue structure
can thus clearly be distinguished and are visible in
true colour. Adjustable light properties increase the
performance and concentration ability of the OR
team. The risk of errors due to loss of concentration is
significantly reduced.

Multiple lighting options
EndoLite® for indirect environment lighting
Improves the work conditions for surgeons for endoscopy procedures in darkened rooms. EndoLite® is
integrated in the suspension and lights specifically
and homogeneously the room environment. The LED
light source used - alternatively in white or green - is
designed for true to colour viewing.
GuideLiteTM for light orientation
The normal light beam of the OR light can be dimmed by the push of a button to five or ten percent
light intensity. The light pointed down illuminates the
OR field or the instrument table, in order to safely manipulate endoscopy instruments.
EndoLite® increases the visual comfort for endoscopy
procedures.

Quick and comfortable setting via
the sensor system
An innovative sensor system
integrated into the handle allows
the OR personnel to position the
light head during the operation
without inadvertently adjusting
the light field size. Additionally, the
light can be specifically focused
via the handle, with acoustic
feedback. The results are efficient
workflows without needing any
additional non-sterile OR personnel.
New spaces to move
The 360° universal joint allows
unrestricted rotation of the light
head around its own axis and
offers greater freedom of movement in low rooms and unrestricted positioning options.
Limitless handling
The surgical team positions the
light inside and outside of the
sterile surgery area using a rail
that goes around the light. This
allows unlimited access to the OR
lights from different situations and
ensures efficient workflows. The rail
design is designed for ergonomic
gripping and easy cleaning.
Optimum environmental
conditions
The OR lights are manufactured
from robust and resistant materials
(meeting protection type IP 53),
and designed for surgical use. It
thus meets the high hygiene requirements in the OR.
Design
The CHROMOPHARE®- lights fulfil the highest demands for design and functionality. Closed forms with smooth,
seamless surfaces simplify cleaning and maintaining the lights. Flow turbulences are specifically reduced according to SWKI Class 5 and DIN 1946-4. BERCHTOLD uses glass as the light emission surface. In comparison to plastic
it is easier to clean and less sensitive to harsh cleaning agents. Furthermore, glass is more robust against blows
and minimises possible reflections.

CHROMOPHARE® OR lights can be combined at will
and offer the ideal solution for individual requirements.
The AC light head suspension with double spring arm
offers optimum positioning options with high ceilings,
while NC with a single spring arm provides greater
freedom of movement in low room heights. Additionally, the newly developed flat single spring arm NFC
offers unrestricted mobility for the greatest convenience. A simple change between double and single
spring arm is possible without problem.
