Diploma in Development Studies
This is a two years programme that has been developed to expose students to both theoretical
and practical experiences in relation to development.
Second year students undertake practical projects in communities to enable them to learn the

This unique programme offered at Nkumba University was designed and is taught in
collaboration with The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) is intended for persons interested in
education and management of HIV/AIDS. It is suitable for fresh ‘A’ level Certificate holders as
well as professionals like Teachers and Proprietors of schools; Welfare officers/ Wardens; Career
Masters; Senior Women Teachers; Counsellors; Nurses and Midwives; Paramedics; Primary
Health Care Workers; Extension staff in sectors likes agriculture, health, education and
community development; Community Care Staff; Community HIV/AIDS Trainer’s; Community
HIV/AIDS trainers; Human Resource Managers, Personnel Officers; and Staff and members of
Faith Based Organisations /Civil Society Organisations. The programme structure is as shown
