As PTN technology possesses many inherent advantages, China Mobile has been widely using it as its first choice for mobile backhaul; China Telecom is also looking at the mobile backhaul technology for its FDD network, and testing focused on PTN has proven remarkable. China Unicom is following China Mobile and China Telecom, and has organized a large number of PTN tests. With the PTN network being gradually applied to access transmission networks, test programs are currently quite limited and there are no effective solutions. JDSU offers end-to-end PTN test solutions that cover the entire PTN application life cycle and various aspects from deployment to post-launch maintenance. It enhances the operator’s confidence in network deployment, new service provisioning, network post-launch maintenance, and fault location. At the same time, it requires minimal hardware resources, is easy to use, and can save the user significant costs while handling large-scale applications. (5). T-BERD 5800 (7). In this example, each test instrument is configured with terminal mode to measure the flow of simulation customer data sent along each direction. Subsequently, analysis can be done on each test instrument for detected test flow, MPLS-TP Provider A Customer service (such as Ethernet) MPLS-TP Provider B Ca1a pa1a MPLS-TP FW Ca1a Cb1b Ca2a MPLS-TP LSP Ca2a MPLS-TP Segment layer Mark 14 OAL OAM Mark 13 OAL OAL ACH ACH OAM OAM Mark 14 LEP CAL OAM Mark 13 LEP OAL ACH OAM Mark 14 LEP PW CAL OAM Mark 13 LEP PW OAL ACH OAM and the instrument will display flow (bandwidth utilization or CIR), packet loss (FL), round-trip delay (FD), the speed deviation (FDV), and other key indicators as well as MPLS-TP header information. Using this mode, you can conduct OAM generation and validation and analyze OAM control layer flow during operation maintenance or troubleshooting. CCM can be used to verify the link connection, and loopback/link tracking can be used to determine the fault isolation. 12 Test Example 2: MPLS-TP Flow Real-Time Network Monitoring When the T-BERD 6000A/8000 MSAM or T-BERD 5800 is connected to the mirror port or a free port on the router, it can be used to monitor and analyze MPLS-TP flow and implement MPLS-TP channel scan. In this example, the test instrument is configured to monitor mode to detect the real-time MPLS-TP flow switched from the switch to this mirror port. Subsequently, you can analyze the detected flow on the test instrument interface, and use a real-time display of bandwidth utilization, user channel, frames received, and other key flow statistics, as well as MPLS-TP header information such as service provider (SP), the customer ID, and prioritized items. Test Example 3: Ensure Accurate Time Synchronization Verification for 1588v2 Networks Time precision in a 1588v2 network depends on the PTP information exchange between the master and slave clock that is received constantly. Network data layer traffic can affect the PTP information transmission delay because all of them share a NE flow processor. Therefore, the use of a high-end network will affect the performance of PTP information, and eventually lead to synchronization of variation. Measure from the main NE and NE information exchanged between the PTP packet delay variation (PDV) to determine the problem. By using the T-BERD 6000A/8000 MSAM or T-BERD 5800 to measure a certain period of PDV, PTP will be able to verify that the information transmission is normal. To simulate the master/slave clock network element, the PTP protocol on the PTN network packet capture statistics, verified by analyzing the function of PTP protocol and configuration of various parameters meeting specifications, package contents from the agreement to provide specific time synchronization visual performance. The use of instruments in the fault node test, through the instrument interaction between the main clock, performance analysis of network latency, PDV, performance degradation, and failure time synchronization, pinpoints the specific location. 13 TDM TDM CE Ethernet Ethernet network NTE IWF Main NTE Ethernet network PTP information Primary reference source MSAM1588v2 Slave Synchronous packet delay variation Test Example 4: PTN One-Way Latency Test Time precision in a 1588v2 network depends on the network’s two-way transmission latency symmetry. It is asymmetric in actual networks, so the accurate measurement of one-way latency in network links is extremely crucial to the direct judgment of the slave clock’s recovery quality (if it meets < 3us indicators) in latency compensation and post-launch maintenance of network opening. In addition, one-way delay of the business is vital to the existing businesses that require a very high real-time quality. By using the T-BERD 6000A/8000 MSAM or T-BERD 5800, users can deploy this test. TOD lnput RS-232USB Adapter 1PPS lnput BNC Adapter AC Test lnterface External GPS Rx Network 14 Test Example 5: Synchronous Ethernet Clock Synchronization Test Synchronous Ethernet is another vital technology for a PTN to realize clock synchronization. Assessing network performance is crucial for new network launches and post-launch maintenance. JDSU offers the industry’s most complete test solution. Its synchronous Ethernet testing ensures clock synchronization throughout Layer 1, and is the technology that adopts the Ethernet link stream to restore the clock. Therefore, it has high accuracy and fast convergence, and its upper-packet PDV has no effect on the performance of clock synchronization. The T-BERD 6000A/8000 MSAM or T-BERD 5800 can support synchronous Ethernet testing, realize Sync-E generation and receiving verification tests, and validate if a synchronized network is working properly by measuring G.8264 SSM messaging rates and analytical validation of messages. The specific physical performance (jitter and wander) of synchronous Ethernet can be measured and validated by using the advanced JDSU Optical Network Tester, the ONT-5xx, which is the industry’s leading synchronous Ethernet testing tool.
