COURSE DESCRIPTION: Principles and techniques for the design, modification, cost analysis, and evaluation
of service and industrial production facilities. This is a 3 credit hour course offered to upper division
undergraduate students. Students from other engineering disciplines may take this elective with advanced
permission of the professor.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: This course aims to introduce students to the basic elements, techniques, and computer
programs for the design, cost analysis, and evaluation of service and industrial production facilities. The
following are the course objectives:
1. Ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems.
2. Ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1)
To demonstrate understanding of the basic principles of design and cost estimation of industrial
production, warehouse and service facilities including layout, material handling, and site selection.
Measured through exams and project.
2)
To define and demonstrate the use of basic analysis techniques and computer programs. Measured
through project.
