Art 262 Art and Design Internship
The internship opportunity provides hands-on work experience in an off-site professional Art or
Design business, company, gallery, museum, or organization.
OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES
DEMONSTRATE ADVANCED SKILLS RELATED TO THE INDIVIDUAL ART OR DESIGN INTERNSHIP.
Objectives:
A. Operate equipment and/or software related to Art or Design internship.
B. Perform related tasks as needed at the direction of on-site internship facilitator.
COMPLETE A TOTAL OF 30, 60, OR 90 HOURS OF INTERNSHIP WORK WITHIN A SCHEDULED SEMESTER.
Objectives:
A. Provide weekly progress reports to faculty facilitator.
B. Furnish written performance self-examination at conclusion of internship.

Qualifications Required:

You must be a sophomore, with a minimum of 30 credits.
Most of these credits must be in the Art Curriculum.
You must have taken credits in the area of the internship desired.
You must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
Requires 2 hours per week per credit hour under direct supervision of on site internship coordinator.
To Apply:
1. Your instructor will have application forms available as well as the Art Department Secretary, Cheryl Witzke.
Located in the Art Department room S209.
2. After your application you will be notified by your Art Faculty of your approval status and the job requirements.
3. If you are accepted for an internship, you will then register as you would for an independent study for course
number and title ART 262 Art and Design Internship. You will pay for 1, 2, or 3 credits. (Each credit requires two
hours per week per credit hour under direct supervision of on site internship coordinator.) Number of credit hours
can be decided by the student or sponsoring business. Hours are to be arranged between you and the sponsoring
business contact.
Description of Art & Design Internship Program
Benefits of Internship to Students:
• Students will receive credit from Delta during this internship.
• Credit will appear on their permanent record demonstrating their experience to future employers.
• Students can investigate a career choice first and to get a vivid picture of a “real world experience.”

Interns may be able to supplement and complement staff positions.
Interns may be able to provide skills currently lacking in present staff positions.

Evaluation of internship Performance:
1. Student will receive a midterm and final performance / job evaluation from the employer and the coordinating
faculty member, who will assign your grade.
2. This grade will be based upon the “General Requirements” of All Interns, and the specific job requirements.

A Delta Art Faculty member with experience in your area of need will be assigned to facilitate this internship.
The employer and Art Faculty member will work together to select a student that meets internship requirements.
The number of students available for these positions will fluctuate.
The employer may elect to implement this program on an annual basis or a trial period.
