His grandfather, Ronald Ray, first came to the Gold Coast from Sydney in 1954 at the age of 26 to take up the first milk run in town. Ron was kept busy with that and carpentry work for the next decade before he became one of the first industrial builders here on the Coast. He built three factories and a house in Miami (around Ozone Parade, if you’re in the area) that are still operating with tenancies in place. At 16, Nick’s father, Michael, started an apprenticeship with his Dad, working on many residential and commercial projects. By 1993, Michael was well on his way to becoming a market leader in the industry with Ray’s Industrial Constructions. Like his dad, Nick also started out building at the age of 16 as an apprentice carpenter to Michael. Nick watched Michael’s skills and style closely and was accelerated through his teachings to become one of the youngest licensed builders in Australia. Nick and Michael have over 100 industrial projects and a range of residential houses in their portfolio. Today Michael is taking a more relaxed approach to life while Nick is pressing on and striving to achieve his own goals moving into all types of construction Queensland wide with Onesector. 06 OUR BUSINESS Onesector is a privately owned construction company based on an unwavering commitment to quality workmanship. COMMERCIAL INDUSTRIAL RESIDENTIAL TESTIMONIALS CLIENT Rhett COMPANY (Client’s own) JOB ADDRESS Energy Cct, Robina CONTRACT VALUE $2.35M My experience working with One Sector was outstanding . Their personnel were professional and most importantly, adopted a “can do” outcomes approach. They were ready with positive and pragmatic solutions to minor construction dilemmas. It is a refreshing change and an enjoyable journey. I would not hesitate to contract with Nick’s team again. There is no question that One Sector has enhanced this marque project. The Ravia Property Group market “offerings” package was right on “as built” specification. Handover as scoped was clean, organised and sharp. Communication with the organisation was concise, clear and open. I was impressed with their eye for detail and “industry based” technical knowledge, as well as their PM staff. This resulted in a high standard of construction and gave me the quality (especially on exterior panels) that I was seeking on the visual finish. Overall attention to detail was above expectations. RHETT 14 CLIENT Andrew COMPANY ABC Brick Sales/ABC Heli JOB ADDRESS Harrington St, Arundel CONTRACT VALUE $1.985M Thank you to Nick and his entire team for the outstanding delivery of our new premises at Arundel. We approached One Sector with a brief to build: a designer brick studio office, a rooftop helipad, warehouse, mechanical workshop with truck wash bays, and over 10000m2 of concrete hardstand required for external storage. And we had to achieve this on a strict budget, and tight time frame. One Sector’s designers provided many different design options at the beginning. Even after we settled on the initial design, One Sector still had the ability to be flexible throughout the entire build. The complete process from designing, quoting, lodging applications and building worked seamlessly at each step. The team of staff and contractors were not only easy to deal with, but extremely clean and tidy on site at all times. I was also regularly kept up to date with the progress each week, with written reports and timeframes. The finished result is something that I am very proud of, and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending One Sector in the future. Thanks again to Nick and his team.
