INSTALLATION: Just install (and solder) the components to the PCB according to the table below. ITEM COLORFUL FLASHING CHRISTMAS TREE ELECTRONIC KIT PRODUCT CODE: AK27014 DESCRIPTION: This very fun and simple circuit creates a beautiful display. The twelve tri-color LEDs (L1 to L12) will flash in a colorful and random manner. TO AVOID PROBLEMS, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE ASSEMBLY: Use a low wattage (15W to 30W) soldering iron with a fine pointed tip. Observe the correct installation of polarized components. (LEDs & Diode) 1. On the LED components, the longer leg is “+”. 2. On the PCB markings, the square pad (as shown in Figure 1) is always “+”. 3. Install the diode as shown in Figure 2. Do not insert the LEDs flush to the board. Leave some space as shown in Figure 3. 9V battery clip: Red wire solders to B+ and Black wire solders to B- . To provide some strain relief for these wires, tie a small knot in each wire after it has passed through the neighboring hole before soldering. (See Figure 5). Install each component over the silk screen outline on the circuit board, then solder the component leads to the PCB pads from the opposite side of the board. After soldering each component, clip off excessive lead length as necessary. (Short enough to prevent component leads from touching each other). After assembly is completed, the circuit may be powered with either a 9V battery, or DC power adaptor PS0904U. Diode D1 protects against accidentally connecting the power supply in reverse polarity. The function of resistor R1 is to limit the current flow through LEDs L1 and L2. Too much current would damage the LEDs. (Resistors R2 through R6 perform a similar function as R1). The LEDs flash independently because there is also a timer IC built into each LED.
