the decreased number of in-plant equipment manipulations

in the total number of tags required to be processed during
a 14-month major asset overhaul, saving an estimated $4-6

plant outages as a direct result of eSOMS implementations.
Estimates of replacement power costs alone saved by bringing
a major power plant back on-line a week early range from $3-5

As an enterprise solution, critical information in each eSOMS
module is just a few mouse clicks away. The eSOMS Narrative Logs module has become a fixture on the desktop of many
plant managers as a tool to track the current operating status of
the plant and to disseminate directives such as standing orders.
eSOMS reports are Crystal Reports® compatible, allowing you
to customize the standard reports or create your own. eSOMS
Qualifications ensures that the technicians assigned have the
correct certification and training requirements fulfilled.

Windows Mobile based application designed to automate in-the-field
data collection. Mobile eSOMS is licensed based on the number of
devices used for data collection activities. Mobile eSOMS is designed
to work with state-of-the-art mobile devices to facilitate data capture
during field operations.

Data sharing and built-in interfaces between eSOMS modules

Program modules at a glance
eSOMS program modules encompass the basic software tools that
assist in the management of plant operations. A brief description of
each module is provided below.
Clearances
Designed to assist in implementing, controlling, and executing
a plant’s tagout/lockout procedure. The system facilitates
access and linkage to equipment isolation, work status, and
schedule information through interfaces to scheduling software,
data historian, and product integration to Asset Suite Work
Management.
The system incorporates a revolutionary method for tag and
lock sharing which has been proven to save a significant
amount of manpower resources during both normal plant
operation and outages, without compromising personnel or
plant safety.
Operator Rounds
To ensure that you are getting the most out of plant inspections,
the eSOMS Operator Rounds module is designed to automate
the tasks of collecting, computing, and storing data from operator rounds. The system provides personnel responsible for plant
operation and performance with a powerful, yet easy to use tool
for analyzing the data quickly and efficiently.
Operator Rounds puts the power and flexibility of complex
calculations, trending, and analysis at the fingertips of operators
both at the desktop and in the field where the likelihood of detecting and preventing equipment problems is greatly enhanced,
thus maximizing plant reliability.
Equipment
The eSOMS Equipment module is used to assist in the definition and implementation of a consistent organized equipment
identification system. The software has the capability to employ
multiple types of equipment identification schemes, from rigorously coded IDs to noun descriptions.
This affords front-line users of the software the freedom to sue
the identification system that they are most familiar with, while
maintaining back-end compatibility with other systems and
databases.
Narrative Logs
The eSOMS Narrative Logs module provides plant operators,
supervisors, and managers with an electronic journal for recording and qualifying events which occur during an individual’s shift
watch. The system tracks shift staffing, plant operating parameters, log entries, associated qualifying data, and web/document
links on an individual plant unit and/or staff position basis.
In addition to on-demand or template log entries, These automatic log entries are used to document the performance of
procedures, tagouts, operator rounds regulatory action compliance, etc. Log entries can also be shared among departments,
groups, facility, or even across facilities.
Notice of Change
The Notice of Change (NoC) module provides personnel with
a software tool to manage the complete life-cycle of the NoC
process. Implementing an NoC process helps to ensure that the
personnel are notified of changes to procedures and practices
in a timely manner and facilitates access to NoC related information.

Reporting tools allow management personnel to quickly determine the status of end-user NoC acknowledgement. Also
included in the NoC process is the generation, delivery and
tracking of automatic notifications from Clearance holder signon/off.

and optimized maintenance processes for the demanding plant
environment. eSOMS also interfaces with other solutions for
project scheduling, data historian software systems, enabling a
tighter integration of all enterprise information systems.
Mobile eSOMS
Barcode and RFID scanning provides the capability to collect
plant operations data and supports analysis in a mobile environment. Mobile eSOMS provides the software tools which not
only eliminate the need for paper-based procedures, tagouts,
rounds, and log sheets in the field, but bring about a whole new
level of power and flexibility to plant operators.
General Features
eSOMS also manages multiple facilities in a single database –
eSOMS can be deployed as either a site specific or enterprise-wide
solution that will be able to expand with your organization by utilizing
an integrated suite of modules. Customers with multiple units or
multiple sites will have the ability to use one single database without
losing the ability to still keep specific functions at a facility level
such as user’s authority, rounds and logs definition. System wide
administrators as well as facility administrators can now coexist
within the same database.
