resource contains a variety of activities teachers can use
to form the focus of their visit, depending on student
and curriculum needs. The activities are aligned
to VELS standards and progression
points in several dimensions
of the Maths domain.
Available: Monday to Friday
Session times: 11am and 1pm
Duration: 60 minutes
Maximum 60 students per session
Cost: Education service fee
Your students will be able to use the data loggers
confidently after a few minutes of instruction and
they will be engaged by their application to practical
activities. It’s a great way of incorporating ICT
into mathematics.

one-off education service fee

Suitable for Years 5 – 8
In this session led by Scienceworks staff, students carry
out a series of hands-on investigations into real life
scenarios to introduce them to useful problem solving
strategies. The session demonstrates the usefulness
of maths to everyday life and introduces problem
solving strategies in a practical and fun way.

Alice’s Wonderland Exhibition
Suitable for Years Foundation – 3
Explore a world of puzzles and quirky characters
inspired by Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice’s Adventures
in Wonderland.
School visitors from years Foundation – 3 will
find the exhibition appropriate and stimulating for a
number of curriculum areas such as mathematics
and science.

Figure It Out- Maths At Work is a free online program that
showcases how mathematics is used in the world around
us. It offers students the opportunity to recognise and
investigate the use of mathematics in real situations.
This program introduces the participant to a number of
people from a variety of backgrounds, who highlight how
they use maths in their day to day work. Students are
then able to select challenges to investigate, based on
the ‘expert’ or theme of their choice, to test their maths
investigative skills. With a range of topics and themes,
and its practical applications to the real world, students are
bound to find challenges that meet their areas of interest.
Problem Solving Learning Kit
This kit introduces students to effective problem solving
strategies. It will assist to fine tune their problem solving
skills and is a great way to encourage students to
develop specific strategies that will allow them to
approach problem solving in real life situations,
