Purpose This national certificate is awarded to people who have demonstrated competence in the advanced skills and knowledge required for employment in the Electricity Supply Industry as an HVDC or Mercury Arc Valve maintainer. This qualification contains unit standards that build on the knowledge and skills recognised by level 4 National Certificates in Electricity Supply in Electrical, Electrical Fitter Networks, or Mechanical Fitter. Special Notes Prerequisite: National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Electrical) (Level 4) with optional strands in Electrical Fitter Networks, and Electrical Fitter Hydro [Ref: 0921], or National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Mechanical Fitter) (Level 4) with strands in Hydro, Networks, and Thermal; and an optional strand in Electrical Services [Ref: 0918], or demonstration of equivalent knowledge and skills. Recognition of prior learning will be carried out by accredited providers or Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation (ESITO) registered workplace assessors.
