Julius Caesar Body Biography POSTER DIRECTIONS: Demonstrate and in-depth understanding of a character from Julius Caesar. Your task is to create a body biography – a visual portrait illustrating several aspects of a character’s life within a literary work. Be sure to represent the character’s virtues and vices throughout the entire play. What are your character’s most admirable qualities? His/her worst? How can you make us visualize them? PRESENTATION DIRECTIONS: It will be your job to use your visual body biography as a teaching tool for the class about your chosen character. Present your poster to the class by explaining the each of your chosen symbols, quotes, and ideas behind your visual display. Be sure to give the class an overview of your character and the decisions that you made when creating your poster. These must capture important thoughts/feelings and be thoughtfully selected. ______ 10 pts Placement – Carefully place your symbols and quotations so that there is meaning. Read through the body biography presentation on Google Drive to think about the symbolic meaning of each body part. What would go in your character’s mouth, spine, mind, feet, hands, etc.? ______ 10 pts Mood – Create a mood similar to the character’s mood by using color. Colors are often symbolic. What color(s) do you most associate with your character? Why? A good idea is to create a rough sketch of your poster before you begin working on it and to use pencil when you begin working. Give pertinent examples and information, and explain all important symbols and information from your poster. Your presentation should flow naturally from one idea to the next. You can organize your presentation in any order that you would like, but make sure that there is a logical order to it. Consider: Will you discuss the character overall first? Will you end by explaining the chosen colors? Will you go through each part of the body individually and describe all symbols and quotes associated with those body parts? ______ 5 pts Delivery – It will be your task to hold the attention of the entire audience with the use of direct eye contact, fluctuation in volume and inflection to emphasize key points and show enthusiasm, and by seldom looking at your note cards – Remember to look up during your presentation! ______ 5 pts Knowledge – At the end of your presentation, you will be asked questions by your peers about your project and choices that you have made.
