Regents Answer Sheets Instructions
PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY PRIOR TO THE ADMINISTRATION
AND SCORING OF REGENTS EXAMS
Distribution of Answer Sheets
 The answer sheets have been preprinted with student and course information. Do not give this sheet to any other
student but the one for who is printed.
 Any student who does not have a printed answer sheet should use a blank walk-in answer sheet.
o Please use ONLY the original blank walk-in answer sheets provided by LHRIC. DO NOT copy blank sheets
and distribute copies to students. Answer sheets are encoded with reference numbers.
o For all blank walk-in answer sheets used, students must hand write (neatly print) the following information in
the spaces provided:
 Student name (front and back of answer sheet)
 Student’s date of birth next to the name
 Grade level
 Student ID number - Bottom left of Side 1
Answer Sheet Bubbling
 Use blue or black ink only to fill in the bubbles
 Completely fill in one of the bubbles available for each item/question
 Double bubbles will be marked as incorrect.
To change an answer, clearly mark intended response by crossing out
the first bubble and completely filling in the new bubble
 To change an answer back to a crossed-out bubble, circle the final answer
and write the number next to the question.
Student Use of the Answer Sheet
 Students are to record their answers to the multiple choice items on the front of the answer sheet by completely
filling in one of the four bubbles available for each item. See above for samples.
 Students are to record their answers for the extended response questions of the exam in the test booklets.
 Students must sign the declaration at the bottom of side 1 of the answer sheet when they have completed the
examination.

When indicating correct or incorrect answers, mark the question numbers ONLY
DO NOT make any marks on the bubbles, these can be recognized by the scanner and may result in
inaccurate results when processing exams.
If necessary, handwrite part scores in the provided spaces ONLY
 Side 2 of Answer Sheet
o Raters/scorers are to indicate the points (credits) earned for each constructed response question by
completely filling in one of the bubbles available for each item.
 Constructed Response Scores are REQUIRED and MUST be bubble for EACH question on
each answer document
 If any Constructed Response question is left blank, the District’s Regents Coordinator will be
contacted for resolution.
o Bubble the IEP and ELL accommodations for the appropriate students.
o Bubble the Alternate Language (if applicable) for the appropriate students.
o If necessary, handwrite part scores and total scores on the provided spaces ONLY
