Cleverly simple control of energy Prefect Product File PRE5200 Two-Stage PIR Activated Thermostat (with User Adjustment) Cleverly simple control of energy Key features. Rating (at 250vAC) 16A heating load Temperature Range – Set-back level 5-19°C; Boost level 16-25°C User adjustment knob (within pre-set bands) Temperature accuracy: 1°C Time setting: 0-2 hours Lvd and Emc Compliant Other temperature ranges and timing available to special order Available with ‘reverse’ operation for air conditioning applications This ‘top of the range’ PIR activated thermostat offers the optimum in convenient control. Featuring the same automatic dual-temperature sensor as the popular PRE5100 unit, this model offers the additional facility of user adjustment by a rotary knob on the fascia. This allows the user to raise or lower temperatures within carefully set limits so that each person has final control over their own heating level. The same automatic sensor varying temperature according to occupancy in the room makes the PRE5200 the best choice in the Prefect range of PIR controls. Hotels, luxury offices and almost anywhere that individual temperature control is needed are ideal for this unit. When the PIR senses movement the unit boosts the room temperature to a user adjustable comfort heat level as set on the front of the unit, for a time which is internally set. Once this time period has expired the unit switches back to maintaining the setback heat level. Installation Instructions: 1. Isolate the circuit supplying the heating points which are to be connected to the PRE5200. This should be undertaken at the distribution board. 2. The PRE5200 should ideally be mounted at chest height, and in the optimum position for sensing occupancy in the room. It should be in a position where it’s operation will not be effected by a local heat sources such as lighting or the heater itself, or by limited airflow or cold drafts for example. 3. Carry out any adjustments to the heating circuits to allow • • • 4. for the correct operation of the system. Connections to the PRE5200 are as follows: Terminals ‘L’ & ‘N’ - Connect a 240V 24hour supply. Terminal ‘LIVE OUT’ - connect to the heater or contactor coil. Any CPC or earthing conductor should be connected ONLY to the mounting box. We recommend this product is installed by a competent person to IEE regulations in force at the time. Setting & Commissioning Information: THIS UNIT SHOULD NOT BE ADJUSTED OR COMMISSIONED WHILST ENERGISED The following are guidance notes for the commissioning of the unit. 1. Isolate all circuits to which the unit is connected and then adjust the setback temperature using the ‘SETBACK’ dial: • Dial fully anti-clockwise = 5’C • Dial in the middle = 12’C • Dial fully clockwise = 20’C. 2. • • • Now set the comfort temperature using the ‘BOOST’ dial: Dial fully anti-clockwise = 16’C Dial in the middle = 20.5’C Dial fully clockwise = 30’C 3. Now set the time the unit will maintain the comfort heat level for once the PIR has been activated: • Dial fully anti-clockwise = <1 minute • Dial in the middle = 60 minutes • Dial fully clockwise = 120 minutes. 4. Mount the unit in its’ box and energise the supply circuit and allow 30 seconds for the unit to stabilise. When the green LED is lit, this indicates the unit is maintaining the setback heat level. When the PIR senses movement the red LED will light to indicate the unit has switched to maintaining the boost heat level. N.B. Due to the variances in room sizes, heater efficiency, airflow, mounting position and drafts etc., the temperatures on the dials should be used for guidance purposes only. In some instances it will be necessary to set the unit to different temperatures to achieve the required temperatures, particularly if not mounted at chest height.
