The following table lists crimes reported by category and the calendar year
of occurrence.

Personal Safety and Security
Campus Buildings
Theft
Asbury University is a relatively safe and secure campus
and community environment, in which to attend classes
and work. However, crimes do occur, and it is necessary
to provide the following policies, recommendations and
information regarding personal safety and the security of
possessions on campus.
In general, campus buildings are open for use Monday
through Friday from 7 A.M. to 11 P.M. Many of the
buildings are not open on weekends except for special
events. The University Switchboard, located in the
Hager Administration Building, is open and staffed 24
hours a day/ seven days a week.
The primary crime on/near campus has been theft. All
persons on campus should secure personal belongings
by keeping items out of plain sight and securing automobiles. All residents should ensure doors are secured
when not inside rooms. All property maintained on
campus should be marked, and serial numbers
recorded in case of theft/loss.
Residence Halls
Residence halls are open as outlined in the Student
Handbook. For access after community hours, the
residence halls are equipped with ID card readers for
student access. If there is a malfunction or a card is
misplaced, access may be gained by contacting the
University Switchboard. Proof of identity will be
required.
Campus Safety & Security Officers
Crime
Asbury University Safety & Security Officers are on duty 24
hours a day/ 365 days a year. The goal of these officers is
to provide excellent customer service while maintaining a
safe environment for everyone on campus.
Any crime which is observed, or of which a person
has knowledge must be reported immediately to the
safety & security officer on duty through the
University Switchboard.
The Director of Safety & Security is on duty during the
week, normally from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. The Director, or the
on-duty officer may be contacted through the University
Switchboard to assist with any personal safety or security
concerns.
Campus Safety and Security Officers are in contact with the
University Switchboard at all times, and should an urgent
request arise, Wilmore City Police, or the appropriate
emergency service would be contacted for assistance.
The Director of Safety & Security maintains the campus
crime log on the University website and has on-going
communication with law enforcement authorities
regarding crime that may impact campus.
Timely Warnings
In the event a situation or emergency occurs which
constitutes a continuing threat to campus, an Asbury
University timely warning will be issued. The alert will
be issued via txt messaging and email. Additional
modes of communication may also be used depending
upon the circumstances and duration of the situation.
Switchboard
Switchboard may be contacted 24 hours a day by
dialing “0” from any campus phone, otherwise call
(859) 858-3511 extension “0”.
Prohibited Substances
No student, or employee is allowed to bring any
tobacco product, alcoholic beverage, or illegal drug to
campus. Confirmation of possession, use or sale of
alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs will result in almost
certain dismissal from the University.
Firearms and deadly weapons
In accordance with applicable laws and the
University handbooks, firearms and other deadly
weapons are not permitted on University property.
