This connection is used to perform initial configuration via a direct serial connection. 4. Performing Initial Configuration Logging on and Licensing Next Steps Troubleshooting Rack Mounting the Appliance The rack mounting kit included with the appliance allows the ProxySG 600 to be installed into 2 or 4 post equipment racks using the included brackets. These brackets mount the appliance into the rack in a static position and are not adjustable. An optional slide-rail kit is available. Contact your Blue Coat representative for more information. b. Attach the retaining clip using the included flat-head screw. The following tasks show how to install the appliance into either a 2 or 4 post equipment rack. Note: The retaining clip cannot be used in conjunction with the optional slide-rail kit. Software License Agreement To ensure safety before you begin rack mounting the appliance, follow these instructions: 1. Power off the appliance. Cable management retaining clip 2. Disconnect all cables. 3. Read the Rack Mount Warnings section of the included Safety and Regulatory Compliance Guide. 4. Take adequate safety and grounding measures to avoid creating an electric shock hazard and to prevent bodily injury. To install the SG600 into an equipment rack, you need the following items: Connecting the Cables x Blue Coat recommends connecting the cables and verifying the LED display to ensure proper functionality before rack mounting the appliance. Figure 1 shows a typical Blue Coat ProxySG network deployment: 3 Verifying the LED and LCD Displays x #2 Phillips head screwdriver To install the SG600 into an equipment rack, follow the steps below: 1. Secure the ProxySG 600 into the equipment rack (Figure 5): a. Find a location on the rack with enough space to mount the ProxySG (1U of space), adequate power, and proximity to a router and/or switch on the network. To verify that the appliance has booted and is operational, check the following: If the Power LED light: The following installation assumes the network deployment shown in Figure 1 is present. For other deployment options, see the ADN Deployment Guide and the WCCP Reference Guide, available for viewing at: https://bto.bluecoat.com/documentation/pubs/view/SGOS 5.5.x Rack-specific screws/hardware (not included) x Is amber, the appliance is on, but the OS has not loaded. x Blinks amber to green, the OS has loaded but is not configured. x Is green, the OS has loaded and is properly configured. b. Slide the appliance into the selected rack location and mount using (4) equipment rack screws²2 on each side of the appliance. Note: Equipment rack screws and associated hardware is not included with the Blue Coat ProxySG 600. If you cannot locate the equipment rack screws, please refer to the instruction manual included with your equipment rack. If the System LED light: x Is green, the appliance is functioning properly. x Is amber, the appliance has encountered a warning. x Is flashing amber, the appliance has encountered a critical problem. x Is OFF, the appliance has not determined the system status. until the appliance has finished booting. The LCD displays x After first time bootup, the LCD displays x After configuration, it scrolls through the health statistics of the system. The following image (Figure 4) shows the location of all the major control functions located on the front panel of the ProxySG 600 Series appliance: Before connecting the ProxySG into your network, disconnect the existing LAN switch network cable from the WAN router. To attach the cables (Figure 2): 1. Connect the network cable from the LAN switch and plug it into 1:1 port network interface on the ProxySG. 2. Connect a network cable from the WAN router to the 1:0 port network interface on the ProxySG. The interface auto-negotiates 10/100/1000 Base-T speed and duplex settings. Note: The multi-port bridging card is optional and does not come preinstalled in all Blue Coat ProxySG 600 series appliances. Contact your Blue Coat representative for more information on optional upgrades. Flip over to complete the installation 53 b. To activate a license from the Sky Management Console, navigate to the License page: Configure > Device > Licensing. Performing Initial Configuration c. Enter your existing BlueTouch Online credentials and click Request license (for the Advanced Management Console) or Submit credentials and install license (for the Sky Management Console). You must have the following network information on hand to perform initial configuration: x ProxySG IP address and Name x Subnet mask x Primary DNS server IP address x Default Gateway IP address x Link Settings (speed and duplex) x Administrator ID and Password x Director IP address (if using Director) To access the ProxySG command-line interface and run the configuration wizard: 1. Confirm that a null modem serial cable is connected from the ProxySG appliance to your workstation serial port. For cabling instructions, see Connecting the Cables. 2. Open a terminal emulation program (such as Windows HyperTerminal). Baud rate: 9600 bps Data bits: 8 Parity: none Stop bits: 1 Note: The ProxySG ships with a 60-day trial license. Solution: Check the power cords and verify that the outlet is receiving power. 63 Logging on and Licensing the Appliance After your ProxySG is configured for network access, complete the installation by verifying network connectivity and registering and licensing the appliance. To complete the ProxySG installation: 1. Verify that you can log into the appliance via the Web browser. To log into the appliance: a. Enter the ProxySG IP address into your web browser's Address or Location box using the following format: https://proxy_ipaddress:8082. b. Enter the user name and password specified during configuration to access the management interface. The management interface loads within your browser window. 2. After login, register and activate your license. If you have a Full Proxy Edition license, go to step a; if you have an Acceleration Edition license, go to step b. a.
