ACC SUBCOMMITTEE ON STATISTICAL ACTIVITIES Thirty-fifth session Vienna, 18-20 September 2001 Item 19(c) of the provisional agenda SA/2001/17 16 August 2001 IDENTIFYING ISSUES THAT THE STATISTICAL COMMISSION MIGHT DISCUSS Note by UNSD 1. Attached is an initial draft multi-year programme of work for the Statistical Commission 2000-2005. It includes ideas of the UNSD. 2. At the thirty-fourth session of the Subcommittee "Several suggestions were made concerning the multi-year work programme of the Statistical Commission, namely, the desirability of the Commission’s considering aspects of the statistical work of specialized agencies, and the collection of disaggregated statistics by international organizations (including the uses of disaggregated statistics and the reporting burdens on countries). The Subcommittee agreed that the latter item should be discussed in a session of the Subcommittee prior to a decision to include it in the Commission’s work programme; the Subcommittee considered that such an approach would be useful for a variety of topics in which both the Subcommittee and the Commission might have an interest." 3. The Subcommittee is invited to comment and make proposals on the multi-year programme of work of the Commission including indicating possible responsibility for any required work in preparing items for Commission discussion. The Subcommittee should also decide on steps to make the ideas in para. 2 above operational. ___________ Proposed multi-year work programme for the Statistical Commission Agenda item 1.
