POLICE OFFICER The Upper Saddle River Police Department is currently accepting résumés for the position of Police Officer. Both non‐PTC and PTC Certified candidates may apply. Applicants who are PTC Certified must provide a copy of their Police Training Certificate. A Pre‐Employment Application shall be completed and included with the applicant’s résumé and cover letter. The Pre‐Employment Application will be provided to the applicant at Police Headquarters and shall be completed, while at Police Headquarters. Minimum Eligibility requirements include: 1. United States Citizenship and additional provisions set forth in 40A:14‐122. 2. A Resident of the State of New Jersey, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:14‐122.8. 3. Age of not less than 21 years or more than 35 years. However, age restrictions shall not conflict with current State or Federal law, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:14‐127. 4. Educational requirements: a) A four‐year college degree from an accredited college or university; or b) At least two years of active military service with an honorable discharge, together with either a two‐year college degree from an accredited college or university or the accumulation of at least 60 credits from an accredited college or university. 5. Vision and hearing adequate to perform essential job functions. 6. The applicant must possess a valid motor vehicle license that is in good standing and issued by New Jersey. The hiring process will include the following areas: Phase #1: Review of Résumé and Pre‐Application. The number of applicants moving to the next phase will be determined before the Résumés and Pre‐Applications are reviewed. This number will be dependent on the number of applicants who submit applications. Phase #2: Health Fitness Test. The number of applicants moving to the next phase will be determined before the start of the Health Fitness Battery & Motor Fitness Test. NOTE: A $75.00 fee will be collected from those applicants chosen to participate in the Fitness Test. This fee covers testing and administrative costs. Phase #3: Oral Interviews. Applications chosen to proceed to the Oral Interview will be required to fill out a Formal Application, prior to their interview. Phase #4: Background investigation conducted by Upper Saddle River Detective Bureau. If an applicant has a criminal conviction, other than a disqualifying conviction pursuant to N.J.S.A. 2C:51‐2, the Detective Bureau of the Upper Saddle River Police Department shall investigate such record and consider such factors, as may be required by law, to determine whether the applicant is qualified. Phase #5: Conditional Offer of Employment. Psychological Exam, Comprehensive Medical Examination, and Drug Screening. If all tests in Phase #5 are successfully passed, the candidate will be appointed and hired.
