Not only has everyday practical use been taken into account but also reliability and onboard maintainability. Calling on decades of experience in the Sector, Vripack, the Dutch design and engineering specialist has teamed with ex Zodiac veteran Tim Fleming to create a specific product for large yachts to use as a tender and approved rescue boat. Available in 3 standard sizes, these aluminum hull rigid inflatables (RIBS) can be customized to any length within 10% of the standard models (min 4.20). This a brand new design that incorporates the latest thinking in practical ideas and features as well as the latest SOLAS standards. They can be used on yachts under 500 tons that don’t require the full SOLAS certificate or on Yachts over 500 tons that do. The design of the RQT is optimized for a large Yacht application thru lessons learned in decades of supplying ships tenders and the challenges of onboard maintenance. It is different from other yacht tenders in that it incorporates a host of, by traditional tender’s standards, unusual features that are designed to make the tenders more practical and easier to maintain. Interior space in a small Rib is always at a premium and innovative thinking supported by precise engineering provides a compact, original package that makes a practical crew tender. The RQT boats are built by a high quality aluminum boat builder with an ISO 9000 type quality control system that is essential to produce premium quality approved SOLAS craft. The RQT 530 is a 5.3m (18’) RIB constructed with an aluminum hull to ensure lightness, rigidity, maintainability and durability. It is a deep V design for optimum performance in different wave conditions with a prominent forefoot for excellent directional manouevrability and sufficient hull volume in the bow to ride over waves for a dry ride. Figure 1 the deep bow shape gives the hull plenty of volume for a dry smooth ride It is equipped with a ‘tall ‘ removable, wraparound inflatable buoyancy tube designed to maximise the comfort of passengers, the buoyancy of the boat, the interior space inside the boat, to provide all round fendering to protect the yacht and high enough to minimize spray from passengers and cargo. It is easily removable by the ships crew for onboard maintenance or replacement. The configuration of this tube comprises of an upper and lower tube. For low profile storage purposes, the upper tube can be delated and inflated seperately to the lower tube. The use of an optional 12 v intergrated air pump in the boat makes this a seamless operation. It is powered with a Yanmar 125hp diesel engine driving a waterjet using a gearbox. This package is often found in small diesel craft and is supported wordwide. The gearbox provides a full « neutral »position as well as the ability to back flush the waterjet to clean out any debris. The engine space and engine cover is designed to give complete access to the parts of the engine that need regular inspection SALES Rep: Tim Fleming E mail: Tim@Boatingmatters.com Phone: +31 35 656 2693 Fax: +31 84 725 4781 Mobile: +31 6 29 40 54 43 Boating Matters Registered Address: Stichts End 90, 1244 PR Ankeveen, Netherlands Netherlands VAT No: NL2623.80.900.B01. The configuration of the RQT is optimised for the application of a tender for a large yacht. The following is a list of features and benefits : - The helm is positioned forward of the boat (as opposed to the aft of the boat on other similar sized tenders). The ensures the helmsman has a clear vision ahead especially at sub planning speeds when approaching the swim grid of the yacht or a dock. The sole at the helm is lowered so that the driver can stand and lean as well as sit. Figure 2 a variety of inflatable tube, upholstery and hull color options are available - There is a large raised foredeck area which affords easy landing for passengers embark/disembarking from the tender and dedicated steps down to the deck. Optional removable boarding assist poles may be fitted here. If required, the foredeck area may be shortended to give more space in the deck area between the foredeck and the engine cover. This space may be used for additional seating or other accessories (dive bottle storage for example) - There is a full unhindered walkway (when side seats are folded) along both sides of the tender offering safe passage between bow and stern. This is useful for crew loading cargo or passengers finding their seats without having to step over obstructions - There are ample opportunities to fit optional bow and stern boarding ladders which assist passengers to embark/disembark from the beach, the water or the dock alike. - The engine space cover is designed to give complete access to the key parts of the engine for inspection and regular maintenance. Likewise for the gearbox, the batteries and the waterjet. This has been a specific design focus due to the importance of on board maintenance , even in yacht garages with very low ceilings. This is achieved by aluminum extrusions allowing the tube to slide on and off. - Aluminum hull material is heavily favoured over GRP in some parts of the Industry. Aluminum is well accepted in the Superyacht sector. The USCG and US Navy, as well as some other National Authoriteis, will only accept aluminum RIBS due to their maintainability and resistance to hull failure.
