FUEL GAUGE FUNCTION Following the 3 seconds of mode indication the Function Button becomes the Fuel Gauge. The colour of the button now indicates the approximate percentage of battery power left. When the battery has only 5% charge remaining in whichever mode, the light will automatically switch to the low setting and the function button will flash red. Light output will slowly dim over the next hour and this is the extended burntime on reserve power. Due to the high power of the Diablo the reserve mode will not happen. Mode and Fuel Gauge functions will operate as normal when using a remote switch. When using a support cell battery the function button will only flash green to indicate the light is charging. FUEL GAUGE TABLE LED BATTERY % GREEN 100 - 50 AMBER 50 - 25 RED 25 - 5 RED FLASH 5 - EMPTY RE-CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Ensure the light unit and SPT+ are turned off. 2. Plug the Smart Charger into the power supply and switch on the supply. The LED on the charger will show green (operational). 3. Open the storm cap on the charge port then insert the charger jack. The charger’s LED will show red when the light unit is charging. The Function Button will flash green when charging and show a constant green when charged. From empty the light unit will rapid charge till approx 95% at this point the LED on the charger will go from red to green, and trickle charge to 100%. Charging with USB via PC or laptop could take an additional hour. SPT+ (SMART PORT TECHNOLOGY+) The Smart Port Technology+ not only enables the user to charge the light but also to power accessories and ancillary products. ·· To activate SPT+ without the front light on, press and hold the function button, immediately release when the main light rapid flashes. Accessories and ancillary products will now be powered. ·· To switch the Smart Port off - simply turn the light on and off again. SPT+ automatically becomes active when the main light is switched on. It also automatically shuts down when the light is turned off. WARNING: Ensure that the Smart Port is switched off before charging. ITM (INTELLIGENT THERMAL MANAGEMENT) HELMET MOUNTING Exposure Lights patented technology combats loss in efficiency of LEDs at elevated temperatures. The technology maintains optimum output for maximum efficiency. The highly acclaimed helmet bracket uses a ball joint, to infinitely adjust the position of your light. Follow these instructions to set up and position the light for riding. The clamp is made up of three parts: Lower clamp disc, upper clamp with ball joint socket and a nylon clamp bolt. Exposure Lights have undertaken extensive research into the effect of temperature on LED output. There is an optimum temperature where the balance between light output and battery burntime peaks, beyond this LEDs becomes inefficient. The intelligent circuitry of ITM monitors the temperature of the LEDs and adjusts power accordingly to ensure the LEDs remain at there optimum efficiency. The adjustment of the power doesn’t noticeably drop the light output, it only maximises burntime. The combination of ITM and new improved body designs for increased heat dissipation ensures that no power is wasted, maximising burn time. HANDLEBAR MOUNTING ·· Put the shorter plastic bolt through the lower clamp disc and align with a selected vent on the inside of your helmet. ·· Place the upper clamp through the top of the vent to meet the bolt. ·· Tighten the bolt. Take care not to damage your helmet. ·· Use the shorter bolt first and if it is not long enough then go to the longer bolt. Do not use the long bolt on thinner section helmets, as this will stop the ball joint working or possibly pop it out. ·· Clip the light body into the top part of the clamp. ·· Attach the non-tab end of the silicone band to the short arm of the bracket. Although universal this is the preferred fitting option. ·· The light can be adjusted by rotating the ball joint when holding the light and is easy to do when you are riding to get the best position. ·· Place the bracket onto your handlebar making sure the short side of the bracket faces forward. ·· For added security attach the lanyard to the light and loop the lanyard through a vent in your helmet. ·· Pull the tab under the handlebar and attach to the long arm of the bracket. ·· Simply click the light into the bracket making sure all is secure. WARNING: Make sure that brake and gear cables cannot catch on or interfere with the light or the bracket. Upper disc Helmet Nylon Bolt Helmet Lower Disc LANYARD FITTING WARNING Exposure Lights recommend the use of the lanyard provided. Looping it around helmet vents or handlebars could stop you losing the light in the event of a crash. Exposure Lights are very powerful lighting systems. Always take care when operating. Do not look directly into the light. This may cause serious injury. Do not shine directly at others. To fit lanyard; Loop the lanyard round your light Exposure Lights / Ultimate Sports Engineering Ltd. accept no liability for any injuries or other damages arising from the use of their product in any circumstances. and pass the large fabric loop through the small loop. (Fig 1) Pull tight and slide into the groove at the rear of the light. (Fig2) Fig.1 Fig.2 MAINTENANCE Inspect and test your light before every ride. Keep your Exposure Light clean, and the lenses free of dirt. The lenses are made of hi-tech resin but can be scratched. Be careful when cleaning any mud or dirt from the lens. Never use a high pressure spray or hose on your Exposure Light. Do not use harsh abrasive or corrosive materials to clean your Exposure Light. Follow all charging instructions. If the unit is being stored for long periods, please ensure the battery is periodically charged fully. We suggest once every month. The same applies to support cell batteries. We design them. This operates the light and informs you of the mode and the battery power status. ·· ·· ·· ·· To turn on the light, double click the Function Button, the light turns on in the brightest mode. To switch between the constant settings, press the Function Button once. When the setting is changed the colour of the button for the first 3 seconds informs you which lighting mode has been selected. Thereafter the colour of the button is your fuel gauge indicating battery power remaining. To activate the flashing or SOS mode, press and hold the Function Button, release immediately after one flash. The flashing or SOS mode can be activated from any of the constant modes. To return to the high mode, press the Function Button once. To turn off the light, press and hold the Function Button. The light will briefly go out, then flash twice. Then release the button and the light will have switched off. TAP (TAP ACTIVATED POWER) - DIABLO / AXIS ONLY The Diablo and Axis gain improved functionality with TAP. A simple tap to the light or helmet when helmet mounted will change the mode to allow maximum speed and confidence on the trails. TAP can be activated and deactivated as required along with altering sensitivity. (Tap should only be activated when helmet mounted). To change any TAP settings access program 9 via OMS, then follow details as described below. When you release the Function Button it will go green for two seconds. While it is lit tap the light to select a setting. To turn TAP on in its most sensitive setting tap the light once, two taps will select medium sensitivity and 3 taps will select the least sensitive setting. To turn TAP off, access program 9 and do not tap the light. (See website for instructional video). OMS (OPTIMISED MODE SELECTOR) When light is off press and hold the Function Button. After 3 seconds multiple flashes indicate SPT+ is activated, keep holding the function button OMS will now begin and the button will flash in sequence. The number of flashes denotes the program selected. Release button when required program is reached. ie releasing the Function Button after the 3rd flash activates program 3. With the Diablo Mk7 this will program burtimes of 3, 10 and 24 hours as highlighted in the table.
