Earn Up To $5,000
toward Your College Degree
A
ir Force Clubs know it takes more than ambition, good grades,
and great SAT numbers to get into college. Over the past seventeen
years, the AF Clubs Scholarship Program has provided college tuition
assistance to over 440 Air Force Club members and their families.
This year the 2016 AF Club Scholarship Program will award six
scholarships in two categories: written essay format, and video essay
format. First place (in each category) is $5,000, second place is $4,000,
and third place is $2,500.
This is an exclusive club member program and only club members
in good standing and their family members are eligible including:
member’s spouse, son, daughter, stepson/daughter, and grandchildren
if they are dependents of the club member.
The Air Force has made a tremendous impact on our way of life
during the nearly seven decades of its existence. Some Air Force
stories are broad and monumental ... think telecommunications,
aeronautical, space, and cultural barriers, other stories are personal,
smaller, but none the less impactful. Historically, entrants were asked
to submit a written essay, and although this option is still available
(essay must now be 1,000 words), this year we would like to highly
encourage entrants to submit a five-minute video. This year’s topic
question is: “Tell us an Air Force story ... tell us “your” Air Force story
- We want to hear how you’ve be impacted by the best Air Force on the
planet.”
To enter, complete the on-line entry form (all form fields must be
answered) located at: www.myairforcelife.com/clubs, paste your essay
or video link, and upload two letters of recommendation. Essays must
be submitted Mar. 1 - May 20. On-line and ONLY on-line submissions
will be accepted. All nominees will be advised of scholarship selection
or non-selection. Only one essay per eligible person will be accepted.
Applicants must be full or part-time students accepted by or enrolled
in an accredited college or university for the 2016 Fall Term. Student
enrollment status may involve either undergraduate or graduate
curriculum. Applicants must provide a copy of their college or
university acceptance letter or official transcript.

Cost is $10 for adults, and $5 for children 7-12 yrs. old. Roundtrip

breakfast and lunch are included! Should you decide to drive yourself,
please be aware that there is an additional $6 park fee per vehicle.
The White Tanks Mountains Regional Park consists of nearly
30,000 acres making it the largest regional park in Maricopa County.
The White Tank range is made up of rugged and deeply serrated
ridges and canyons, rising sharply from its base to peak at over 4,000
feet. Infrequent heavy rains cause flash floodwaters to plunge through
the canyons and pour onto the plain. These torrential flows, pouring
down chutes and dropping off ledges, have scoured out a series of
depressions, or tanks, in the white granite rock below, thus giving the
mountains their name.
In addition, there are eleven Hohokam archaeological sites,
occupied during the time period A.D. 500-1100, located within the
boundaries of the Park. Several of the villages appear to have been
occupied for long periods by sizable populations.
Sign-up today to explore this beautiful and amazing historical
hiking area with us. Register and pay fees by Mar. 18 (refundable up
to 48 hours prior to the event).
