ROYCO® 770
SYNTHETIC FIRE RESISTANT HYDRAULIC FLUID,
RUST INHIBITED
Description
ROYCO 770 is a synthetic hydraulic fluid developed to meet the severe duty demands of today's military and
industrial equipment. Rust inhibitors are utilized to provide protection to ferrous components and modern
additive technology is employed for oxidative stability, corrosion inhibition, and antiwear protection.
Applications
ROYCO 770 is intended for use in severe duty applications requiring extremes in environment and/or extended
time periods between operation such as tank and howitzer recoil mechanisms and hydraulic systems, snow
removal, earth moving and heavy duty construction equipment, and industrial robotic hydraulic systems.
ROYCO 770 is especially recommended in applications where rust protection together with a high flash point
can afford an extra margin of safety and fire protection.
Features and Benefits
Features
Synthetic hydrocarbon base fluid (PAO)
Superior Corrosion and Anti-rust inhibition
Benefits
 Superior performance to older generation naphthenic / mineral
oil based fluids;
 Compatibility with components, including seals and hoses used
in systems designed for naphthenic based fluids
 Miscible in all proportions with other PAO based as well as with
Naphthenic oil based fluids
 Excellent for protection of ferrous components in application or
storage.
Compatibility
ROYCO 770 is miscibility in all proportions with fluids meeting: MIL-PRF-5606, MIL-PRF-6083, MIL-PRF83282 and MIL-PRF-87257. It may be interchanged with these fluids in some applications. Proper fluid
selection depends on the requirements of the operating system. ROYCO 770 should not be used in aviation
hydraulic systems without prior evaluation and should not be used in systems in contact with natural rubbers.
Intermixing ROYCO 770 with petroleum based fluids will reduce its fire resistant properties.
Specifications
ROYCO 770 meets all requirements and is qualified against MIL-SPEC: MIL-PRF-46170D Type I; (Please note
that Type II of the previous revision “C” was dropped in the later revision of this specification). It is identified by
Military Symbol FRH and NATO Code H-544. ROYCO 770 is designated as an H-15 contact preservative
according to the Mil-STD-2073-1E.
