X110700 G-Linx 5KV EHT POWER SUPPLY X110700.doc jz V3.1 Thank you for your purchase of the extra high-tension power supply unit. This unit is a robust equipment, its ruggedness will allow many years of use if proper operating techniques are developed. Please read the following instructions carefully and always keep this manual within easy reach. Features : The G-Linx 5KV EHT power supply provides a continuous output of 0 to 5KV or +/-2.5KV, at a maximum current of 2mA (short circuit current) A center Tap is provided such that the output can be configure as 0-5KV supplies or +/-2.5KV supply. Second output with two 25 Mega ohm safety resistors. (Total 50-mega ohm for 5KV output) Auxiliary output of 6.3V a.c. 2A continuous (Voltage under loading) Voltage Display is by 3-digit green LED 7-segment Display Dimension: approx. 200mm x 150mm x 70mm L x W x H Mains Supply: 220V-240V 50Hz Fuse : 0.315A (T) Internal Architecture: A mains-18V Transformer is used to provide a variable 0-18V DC supply. This variable supply is used to source a switching network such that a ferrite transformer step up the voltage to about 1.25KV A few section of voltage doublers further step up the voltage to 5KV. Protection: * The transformer is protected by a thermal fuse and the primary is protected by a 0.315A slow blow fuse * Output current is limited to 2mA to 2.5mA by internal electronic circuitry * Second output with one pair of 25 mega ohm safety resistor provide voltage source with limited current for equipment such as Teltron tube . * 6.3V filament supply is protected by 2A resetable fuse Specification: Input: 220V-240V, 50/60 Hz Output: 0 to 5KV DC 2mA , or +/-2.5KV DC 2 mA Second output with 25 mega ohm safety resistor Auxiliary output of 6.3V a.c. 2A for Teltron tube filaments Dimension: 200mm X 150mm X 70mm WXHXD Operation: Rotate the voltage knob anti-clockwise to extreme left Connect the power supply to your experiment setup, use the upper red and blue socket if you use 0 to 5KV , use all upper 3 socket in case of using +/- 0-2.5KV dual supply In case of experiment that concern is of voltage and very small current is to be drawn, it is recommended to use the low red and blue socket (via 25M resistors) In case of using dual supply for this situation, use the low red and blue socket together with the black socket as the centre tap. Connect the earth wire thru the green socket, if required, for safety purpose. Switch on the unit with the mains switch on the back panel of the power supply, the unit is ready to use. Turn up the voltage control knob to desired voltage level. Maintenance: The power supply is very robust and it would need seldom maintenance. In the rare case that the primary fuse is blown, return your machine to your dealer for service Precaution : The EHT section is designed to withstand brief short circuit and the short circuit current is about 2mA , however , it is not recommended to let the power supply be shorted out for prolong period (EHT Version 3.1 , Feb. ,2012 )
