Alice borrowed one of my Twist and Cross magazines and made this butterfly bookmark. She now subscribes to it as many of us do.

Not surprising that it has butterflies.

We sure have found a lot of them round and about.

Speaking of which Alice has a message for us all.

Calling all Butterflies!

Any butterflies you have made for Conference need to be given to me. We need to get a count of what we have made, and be able to plan how to best use them.

It would be nice to have them by the Conference meeting on April 25 in McMinnville. Let me know if you have a butterfly in progress that will be flying in a bit later. Thanks to everyone. Alice

=========================================

Alice with butterfly made from the working diagram of what was to be a very small item.

I’m sure we will see this guy flying over us at the conference.

Please review and we can discuss further at the meeting.

The best times for your lace makers will be in the evening hours Friday night and Saturday night.

April 24 , Friday morning is good. two hour shifts. 10-12 Friday afternoon 4 to 6 6 to closing.

April 25 , Saturday afternoon 4 to 6 6 to closing.

April 26 Sunday morning 10-12 We will be closing demos at

4 p.m.

Have the lace makers send an e-mail to me ladella@teleport.com

to confirm their presence and get further instructions.

Bare bones details include there will be some chairs available. And a table. However if they want to bring their own small lacemaking tables please do so.

===================================================

Pauline sent us the detailed financial report and I have included it on page 5. It does not show up very well, but if you put your viewer on 150 % it comes in nicely. Please review for further discussion at the meeting.

==============================================

Thanks to Pauline and Shelley who took on the meeting while Beverly and I were in Seattle doing the Barjac Ombree class.

I completed one of my projects and

Bev will have hers for show and tell

I’m sure.

This is made from size 30 crochet cotton. Nice job.

From Jackie ——

Thanks to all that have registered and helped with conference workings so far. I am happy to report that registration is going very well. Currently we have about 80 paid attendees in 10 classes. We have 6 classes that have 9 plus students. Check out our web site on the classes that are full or cancelled.

Kudos to Lynda for setting up our fine web site and dandy registration form and Beverly for her terrific work with processing registration and contacting participants and teachers. We will still be accepting registration until mid-May so if you have beginning students, be sure to mention Lynda’s class. There is still room in most of the classes. Please continue to advertise .

Don’t forget to make or design your name badge holder. We are having a contest to earn raffle tickets for several categories. The information is on the web site. We would like everyone to bring their own favorite name badge holders.

We still have a lot of work to do so I am going to list some of the items that come to mind:

*Set aside April 25 from 1:30-4:00 (or later) to meet at Jackie’s. We will be stuffing goodie bags

*We need volunteers to pick up people at the airport and train station.

*Think about when you will be available to help during the conference:

*Help with registration (Wed)

*Teacher introductions and Welcome Get Together (Wed)

*Registration (Thurs am)

*Someone in each class to be a helper (usually an easy job) *Help with raffle sales and set up (all days)

*Help set up Thurs Teacher showcase (Thurs night)

*Ideas for make and take activity (Sat)

*Help set up and assist vendors (Sat am)

*Sunday clean up

I am sure I have missed several items. Let me know so I can add them to our list.

We are getting close and I am getting excited about the conference. Once again, many thanks to all the folks from Portland Lace for your support, work on the conference and just being so positive about everything.

Remember, if you cannot come for classes be sure to make up your list and come check out the vendors on Saturday. You can pack a lunch, pick up something at the vending machines, go downtown. Whatever you do, plan on having a good time and shop—shop—shop!

Beverly made this impressive 33 inch long valance based on the pattern in the Austria-Spitze book. Instead of using only three pairs she used four.

You can ask her about the hours in each repeat.

Not for the faint of heart, but what an accomplishment. When she is through carrying it around for our amazement, it will be a valance in her bathroom window. Lucky window wouldn’t you say?
