Automotive Technology (3AUTO, 5AUTO, AND 6AUTO) Fast Facts About the Program Type: Technical Degree/Certificate: Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.), Level II Certificate of Technology, Occupational Certificate, Duration: One to five terms Program Objectives The student will study the eight areas of ASE (Automotive Service Excellence). He/She will attend lectures and demonstrations, and practice lab skill sets, which prepare the student to take the national ASE certification exam. The student will study theory of operation, component identification, and diagnostic procedures. Students will have the opportunity to practice skill sets that apply to the concepts learned in the classroom setting. For More Information Students that diligently attend every class and focus on learning all eight areas of ASE and participate in hands-on skill sets should be able to pass the ASE national exam. Passing the ASE exam is not guaranteed. Passing ASE exams depends on the time spent in and out of class studying the concepts. Job opportunities include dealerships, independent service shops, franchise repair shops like Firestone, Goodyear locations, store associated shops like exhaust shops, brake shops, and tire and wheel shops.
