The AM2 test must be taken by all candidates who are near completion of the C&G 2356 Electrotechnical Technology or NVQ Level 3 qualification either on an Apprenticeship or other training programme. The test is also available to those wishing to accredit their practical experience. Entry Requirements There are no formal entry requirements however this assessment is normally taken towards the end of an Apprenticeship or equivalent training scheme. Candidates normally hold C&G 2330 Level 2 Electrotechnical Technology and Level 3 or equivalent and are working towards C&G 2356 NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical Services. Any Other Information It will be necessary to pass this assessment before the Joint Industry Board grant Electrician Status to an individual applying to the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme. It is also essential for students working towards C&G 2356 NVQ Level 3 Installing and Commissioning Electrotechnical Systems (Buildings and Structures). All work must be in accordance with the current IEE Wiring Regulations BS7671 and Health & Safety Regulations. This course meets the needs of: • Qualified Supervisors (electrical domestic installation contractors) • Responsible Supervisors (responsible for several installers) • Responsible Persons (responsible for own work) Qualification NICEIC Qualification Entry Requirements This course is aimed at electricians and others outside the electrical industry to comply with the introduction of Part P of the Building Regulations. Candidates for this course should already be installing domestic electrics and be familiar with all wiring systems. There is a 2 hour multiple choice exam on the final day and a practical assessment. Qualification City & Guilds 2377-200 Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment Entry Requirements You should be employed within the industry. This course is aimed at all personnel inspecting and testing electrical equipment and covers the recording, interpretation of results and the labeling of equipment. Course Length 1 day Course Content One day practical workshop aimed at anyone involved in the inspection and testing of portable electrical appliances. Areas covered include: • Equipment construction • Inspection • Combined inspections and testing • Recording and use of electrical equipment A 1 hour on-line examination will be taken at the end of the course. It may also be suitable for anyone requiring an understanding of BS 7671, although prior knowledge in basic electrical science will be required. Two million homes are coming onto the market each year, which means that there is a requirement for Energy Assessors to be able to survey homes and produce certificates for these properties. Rented properties also follow these guidelines. Qualification Level 3 Diploma for Domestic Energy Assessors (City & Guilds 6020) Entry Requirements Applicants should have experience within the building industry, a relevant qualification and/or an equivalent level 3 qualification. Please note there is a 4 week pre-reading period which is recommended before commencement of the course. It is advised that applicants have access to the internet for research and to access the Domestic Energy certificate software. Course Length 5 days Start Date Courses run on a frequent basis and are subject to demand. Location Parkside Lane site Course Content The course is intended to familiarise the candidate with the regulations regarding energy efficiency in domestic buildings. This is the nationally recognised qualification required to become a Domestic Energy Assessor in England and Wales. Areas covered include: • Health & safety • Role of the domestic energy assessor • What is a risk assessment? – what’s involved and how to carry one out • Assessing the age of a property and property fixtures • The various construction methods • Heating systems – different types, how they work etc. • Surveying techniques • Software training • Preparing relevant documentation The course includes a 1½ hour online examination at the end of the course followed by a portfolio assessment period which lasts 4-8 weeks.
