Palmer Jr., Globe Staff | December 20, 2006 “Boston is expected to become the first major city in the nation to require private developers to adhere to a strict set of green building standards, officials said yesterday. The standards will be required before permits are issued for all projects of 50,000 square feet or more. The goal is to make new buildings more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.” Massachusetts Air Quality Emissions Massachusetts produces 185,000 tons of polluting emissions each year, with a large proportion of these coming from electricity production. This chart is based on stationary energy production and emissions and does not include transportation impacts. Tambient furniture mounted units spread light smoothly across the ceiling to eliminate these hot spots. They balance the brightness of the ceiling with the workstation and provide comfortable illumination to surrounding spaces Design Freedom from Clutter is obtained by integrating the lighting and furniture to have downlight (task) and uplight (ambient) from a single luminaire. Freedom of Choice means that you can use any manufacturer’s open plan furniture system and be confident that the lighting system will be compatible. Design Flexibility enables even offices with low ceilings to enjoy high quality indirect lighting. Work stations can also be easily reconfigured and relocated without sacrificing quality as the lighting moves with the furniture. Cost Tambient products save the end user money by offering Energy Savings, Simplified Installation, Reduced Maintainence and Tax Advantages because as a furnniture integrated luminaire, the Owners can write off the entire cost of the lighting system in 7 years. Tambient also helps building owners qualify for maximum tax deductions under the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
