GULF POWER ENGINEERING SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION Gulf Power Engineering Society (GPES) will grant a single payment scholarship in an amount up to $1000. Please read the instructions carefully and complete the application to its entirety. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS ● Must be an immediate family member of a Gulf Power employee, Southern Company employee located at Gulf Power or Retiree. Immediate family includes spouse, child, grandchild, or sibling. ● Or must be an active GPES Engineering Explorers Post 420 member. ● Recipient shall only be awarded the scholarship one time. ● Application is not available to anyone eligible for Southern Company’s tuition reimbursement program. ● Provide proof of enrollment or acceptance to an engineering program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Provide proof of engineering courses or acceptance. ● Provide a copy of transcripts (Both High School and College Transcripts unless the applicant is only graduating from high school). ● Provide SAT and/or ACT score(s). NOTES TO THE APPLICANT ● The Scholarship Committee will evaluate applications and select a recipient. Upon final approval of the GPES Board, the scholarship will be awarded at the subsequent quarterly meeting. Please note: a personal interview may be required of applicants and the scholarship amount may vary up to a max of $1000. ● The scholarship will be paid directly to the student and is intended to be used solely to defray some of the costs associated with the pursuit of an engineering education/degree: tuition, fees, books, supplies or equipment for college courses. ● On your activities in the application, be sure to include lists of organizations/clubs along with descriptions of the organizations/clubs and level of involvement, i.e. member only, officer, committee member, etc. Also include actual community service hours and whether leadership was demonstrated. ● Provide letters of recommendation from counselors, coaches, teachers, professors, etc. as the applicant sees fit. ● Return the completed application to Michael Stewart. The application needs to be completely filled out in all sections. It is preferred that you type your details into the form and add typed attachments with your submittal as necessary. ● Application submission deadline is Monday, April 6, 2015 by 5pm CST.
