When do you have the right to a contract of employment? You have the right to an employment contract when you have been employed for more than one month and you work more than eight hours a week. If you have shorter working hours in the beginning you will not be entitled to a contract until your average work week over the past four weeks exceeds eight hours. Transportgruppen Even if you do not meet all the requirements, it is always a good idea to ask your employer to give you a brief written agreement that sets out the terms of your employment. According to the Danish Act on Employers’ Obligations to Inform Employ­ ees of the Conditions Applicable to their Employment Relationship, your employer must as a minimum include the following ten things in your contract: 1. The names and addresses of the employer and the employee (you) 2. The location of the place of work 3. A description of your job or your job title, grade, position or job category 4. The date on which your employment contract takes effect 5. The anticipated duration of your employment if your employment is temporary 6. Your holiday rights, including information on whether you will receive ordinary pay or holiday pay during your holidays 7. The terms of notice to be observed by you and your employer and/or the applicable rules on terms of notice 8. The pay rate in force or agreed upon, as well as any allowances payable and the dates on which your pay will be transferred to your account 9. Your daily or weekly working hours 10.The collective agreement, if any, that governs your conditions of employment Both you and your employer must sign the contract. Don’t forget to get a copy of it. Your name and address, as well as your payroll number if you have one. If your work hours are not specified on your payslip, you can divide your gross pay with the hourly pay rate specified in your collective agreement and then calculate the hours worked in the pay period. Working hours in the pay period. Check that the hours stated are in fact the hours you have worked in the pay period. If they are not, contact your local 3F branch. Don’t forget to write down the number of hours you have worked every day, for example in a diary. Write down the time when you arrived at the pick-up place and the time when you finished all your work that day. Allowance per hour for night work. If you start work before 6 am, an allowance must be paid for all hours worked until your night work ends. The correct rate is specified in your collective agreement. Your own pension contribution. A pension contribution must be paid based on your gross pay, holiday pay and special savings (SP). Check the rate in your collective agreement. You can always ask for help from your local 3F branch; the address is on the back of this folder. Your total pay before deduction of tax. Holiday pay: 12.5% of your pay. The contribution to the special pension savings scheme is 1% of your gross pay. Your total pension contribution in the period. One-third is your own contribution; two-thirds come from your employer. The pension contribution rate is stated in your collective agreement. Your payslip must contain the following information: • Your civil registration number • The pay period covered by the payslip • The day or date you will have the pay at your disposal • The number of the bank account to which your pay will be transferred • The name, address and registration number of your employer Transportgruppen
