Spring 2014 Bounce Back Program Syllabus

All facilitators are mental health professionals.
All peer coaches have been selected to participate in the Counseling and
Psychological Services Peer Program. Peer coaches offer informal contacts and
support to Bounce Back participants, and are considered teaching assistants in the
program.
Announcements from Facilitator and Peer Coach:
Outside of class times, email will be the best way to keep in touch about class
assignments, questions, etc. Blackboard will be the main method of communication. You
may also set up times to meet with the instructor or the peer coach should the need arise.
Cell phone use is not permitted in class (no texting please)
Bounce Back Seminar:




Time: Monday 6:00 to 6:50 pm.
Location: Calpulli Center, Fourth Floor, Conference Room 4
1 unit of course credit is given for participation and successful completion of this
class.
The Bounce Back program is not required for Academic Probation (AP) students.
Course Requirements to Earn 1 Unit:



Attendance is required. Only 2 absences permitted, with notice to instructor
prior to absence.
Completion of the academic advising tutorial due on the second week of class.
To complete the tutorial go to the following website:

Completion of 4 1-2 page reflection papers. The topics of the papers are: 1)
the story of how you got into college (due 2/3 ), 2) the story of how you got
on academic probation (due 2/10), 3) your plan to get off of academic
probation (due 2/17), and 4) what key things you learned about yourself from
taking Bounce Back (due 4/28).
Course Materials:

Bounce Back Retention Program Student Workbook. Available through Aztec
Shops Bookstore. (2 copies are on reserve in Counseling & Psychological
Services to be used in the Center for Wellbeing. These copies may not be
removed from C&PS)
