No late homework will be accepted. Homework must include your name, course & section number, problems assigned, and date submitted. No credit will be given for an illegible homework. All homework problem answers are given in the back of the text; therefore, simply having the correct answer will not ensure full credit. All work, including sketches, free body diagrams, equations used, and all steps in the process of obtaining the answer must be shown, for full credit to be given Exams: Three exams will be given. Exam problems will be similar to homework problems and example problems worked out in class. No makeup exams will be given. All exams will be closed book, but one single-sided 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of paper will be allowed, which will be collected with the exam. This sheet must be handwritten, and may only include equations and notes -no worked out problems, such as homework or sample problems from the text, and no electronically generated or photocopied materials are allowed. Failure to comply with this policy will result in a grade of “ 0 “ for the exam. Policies: 1- You may not use cell phones, iPods, or any other electronic equipment during class. If you have an emergency situation, put your phone on vibrate, and take any call outside in the hallway. 2- I expect you to read the text, and I also expect your full attention while in class. In order to do the homework and the exams, you will need material and example problems which will be covered during class as well as material and examples in the text. 3- It is expected that you have basic math skills, including how to integrate and differentiate, as these skills will be needed to do the homework and exams. 4- You will need access to and familiarity with the SDSU Blackboard website, http://blackboard.sdsu.edu, as it will be used extensively in this class. You should plan to check it often, for homework assignments, course announcements, your grades, and other course documents which will be posted on the site. 5- Only University approved excuses for absences will be approved. The schedule for the entire semester is given on the first day of class, so students should plan accordingly. If you wish to request an excused absence, please provide your request to be excused - in writing - along with any required documentation, immediately upon your return to class.
