SPRING 2016
STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING
By signing this document and returning it to my URBP 298B adviser, I acknowledge:




I have read the URBP 298B syllabus in its entirety.
I understand that the first full draft of my Planning Report is due to my adviser no later than
Monday, March 16 (March 7 is recommended).
The first full draft will be a complete, good-quality draft per the specifications on page 3 of the
URBP 298B syllabus.
I have updated my detailed report outline (from my 298A research proposal), as shown below, to
reflect the current status of my report.
I have updated my 298B Schedule of Tasks, as reflected below, to reflect my most current
approach. (Note: a sample schedule is included below, for you to modify.)

DETAILED REPORT OUTLINE
(This outline will be an updated version of the one you prepared for your Research Proposal in URBP 298A.)
Write a very detailed outline of the report, as you imagine it might look when you are finished. Include all
chapters, as well as at least one or two levels of sub-headings giving more detail for each chapter. Also,
for each chapter note in parentheses the number of pages you estimate it will be.
Last update: 12/15/15
SCHEDULE OF TASKS FOR 298B
Prepare a schedule that identifies when you will finish each task needed to complete the report. The
schedule below is a sample. You MUST include the deadlines noted in red (you can pick the
recommended earlier deadline or the required later one), but the material in black text is included only
as a sample. You may also use a different format from the one below, if you prefer.
It is recommended that you plan to turn in one or more draft chapters prior to turning in the first
complete draft report. If you choose to do this, you will want to build those dates into your schedule.
Keep in mind that your adviser will need at least five business days to review draft work you submit,
especially for a full draft.
