SLO 1
Understand the spatial characteristics of natural landscapes and ecosystems. Identify and describe the
components and processes that shape the Earth’s lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere
at various scales. Explain how Earth’s physical and biological processes are dynamic and interactive.
Initial Evidence of Student Learning:
[Spring 2013] Students submitting e-portfolios this spring met this SLO only partially. They all included
examples of work that demonstrated a fairly good understanding of the spatial characteristics of natural
landscapes and ecosystems. They were able to partially explain how Earth’s physical and biological
processes are dynamic and interactive. However, the lack of upper division physical geography courses
limits student’s ability to fully meet this SLO.
Change(s) to Curriculum or Pedagogy:
[Fall 2014] We would like to introduce at least a foundational upper division physical geography course
into our curriculum. This will be something we work on over the next academic year.
Evidence of Student Learning after Change.
