Dr. Elaine Chin
Over the last two years, Dr. Chin has developed a system of assessment that is
designed to be both comprehensive and sustainable over the coming years. For
example, based on careful research and two different semester-long implementation
tests, she led the faculty through a process that resulted in the selection of Way Point
as the archival system for all COE assessment materials. She established agreements
with Undergraduate Studies to facilitate the various COE accreditation requirements
(e.g., NCATE, CCTC, ASHA) to integrate meaningfully with the SJSU program review
and WASC accreditation requirements, thus decreasing redundancy. Throughout this
work she has provided the leadership, vision, and plain hard work that is required to
move a large institution productively to engage with the very important processes that a
solid assessment system requires.
